Medicare and Medicaid - The Right to Reimbursement | Personal Injury Law Blog

Yes, Mediare and Medicaid have the right to reimbursement if they pay for residential care for recipients. This means they can recover from assets which would pass to the recipients beneficiaries if necessary.

Now, here's my question: Should a US veteran be given a supplemental pension in order to keep him from having to file Medicare for his residential care in order that his assets could be preserved for his children?

OK, folks. Come on! This is another 'fleecing of America.' Surely you have some thoughts about it. Do you think that one government agency should supply money just to keep the person's Medicare from being filed so the person's children can inherit the farm which would otherwise be taken to reimburse the taxpayers for the person's residential care?
