let's take a little dance down memory lane a take a look at some medals and awards that have been handed out for war and aggression in the days after the invasion of Iraq ( a nation that had NOTHING to do with 9-11 nor had WMD) and ponder wether or not they were deserved!:cool:

George Tenet retired from the CIA in 2004. Shortly thereafter he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush, despite criticism from Congressional Democrats that Tenet was responsible for intelligence failures regarding Iraq's purported weapons of mass destruction.

Why are Libruls so bitter and frustrated?

Obama won the Nobel Prize, can getting the Olympics to Chicago be far behind?

Though I was vehemently opposed to the Iraq war, history may judge Bush in a favorable light in a decade or two if Iraq becomes truly free. Of course, the Nobel Peace Prize committee would never recognize this.

Buying silence: Bush awards Medal of Freedom to key figures in Iraq debacle

By Barry Grey
16 December 2004

excerpt;
President Bush’s awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday to three of the chief architects and executors of the Iraq war is an affront to the concept of freedom of Orwellian proportions.

The White House ceremony that saw Bush bestow the gold medallions on retired general Tommy Franks, former CIA Director George Tenet and former US administrator in Iraq L. Paul Bremer for their roles in an illegal war and brutal occupation that have killed 100,000 Iraqis and 1,300 US soldiers could not come as a shock to those who follow this administration with a degree of critical thought and are genuinely devoted to the principle of freedom. Many people throughout the world will react, appropriately, with revulsion.

The glaring contradiction between Bush’s praise for the three honorees and the disasters over which they presided—in Tenet’s case, within the US as well as in Iraq—points to an additional motive behind the awards. In the atmosphere of crisis and palace intrigue surrounding the Bush White House, the medals suggest a payoff to buy the silence of individuals in a position to tell tales that could prove highly damaging.

not that I put much into the Nobel Peace Prize.....what does the Medal of Freedom mean to most Americans?

There should be a Liberal Democrat Congressional Member Stupidity Medal - just about everybody on Capital Hill could wear that one with pride.

Look at who Obama is friends with: Castro, Chavez and Zelaya

There is a stronger friendship between Ronald Reagan and Saddam Hussein than between Obama and the above.

Reagan's been kind of dead for a while, but you hold on to that great "idea"

How could we tell if Reagan is dead, considering how often Rightwingers love to compare Reagan to every Democratic President that has held the office since(Clinton and Obama)

Come to think about--how is that "Reagan candidate" search coming along? Closest thing I see on the right to Reagan is Ron Paul--just as economically to the far right as Reagan, and probably more of a social libertarian....
