Fentanyl is being added to the drugs which has greatly increased the death rate. It was designed as a horse tranquilizer. Compare the 64,000 deaths from overdose to gun deaths which was about 15,000 last year. Is the body count not high enough yet to get some attention? That is also more than the number of young people who died in the Viet Nam war which was about 58,000. This is an ENORMOUS problem, way more serious than stupid political differences.

Agreed. I see opiate addicts frequently, breaking up marriages, neglecting kids, they are the new death drugs.

You know, when Colorado legalized marijuana for recreational use, opiate overdoses in the state went down that year by 25 PERCENT and have continued to decline since.

Legalize marijuana, as well as put limits on doctors prescribing opiate drugs, and you will have the opiate use decrease.

The main reason people are turning to heroin and fentanyl is because they got addicted to opiates, but their doctor cut them off, so they turn to street drugs which are basically the same effect, just a lot stronger which is why the overdose epidemic is happening.

As usual............
Only a small part of the truth is told....so as to promote an agenda......

Since 2015, new Federal Guidelines have been making opiates MUCH harder to get. Prescription guidelines hardened.
Control of opiates regulations require stricter control of their distribution.

It's like saying Bill Clinton was a Financial Genius because the economy grew under his administration when the truth was he had nothing to do with it....it was the INTERNET BOOM that brought the growth.

States are starting to file lawsuits against Big Pharma re the opiode epidemic. This is a pattern in the us the last 20 years. Big Pharma comes out with a new drug, people use it and get ill or die, class actions lawsuits are filed. We see this over and over. One could conclude they make enough money selling the poison that it covers the lawsuits and court costs so they have no reason to stop.

I couldn't decide between;

1. Bad news for pharmaceuticals, 64,000 less customers.

or

2. Opioid abuser Rush Limbaugh is still alive.

Also, if somebody hasn't brought it up...you spelled Opioid wrong.

Legalizing marijuana kills tourist industry, families don't want to go where there's a bunch of fucking pot smokers...
Smoke marijuana in your own house…

Legalized marijuana kills the tourist industry? Really? Ever been to Colorado and looked around the parking lots of the 420 shops? Most of the license plates are from out of state.

CO's tourist industry is booming because of marijuana legalization.
