McConnell scraps healthcare vote

So......Trumpcare crashes and burns
That is their last chance to pass it this year

Do Republicans have the balls to try to pass a healthcare bill in 2018 when they are up for election?
How will they answer constituents that they promised to repeal Obamacare for eight years
They'll need 60 votes now. Maybe they'll actually put something together that puts country before party. Don't hold your breath, though.

They can't get 60 votes
Dems want to fix Obamacare

It's not Trumpcare that is crashing and burning. Obabblecare is doing that all on its own as premiums skyrocket and insurers drop out of the market.
Obamacare is the law of the land

Looks like forever

And the giant Fuck you to everyone that comes with it.
Why didn't Republicans offer something better?

Because you know why. You just ask because you like to throw rocks.
Obamacare is dug in. It isn't that simple.
What you would be right about is why did they not spend the past 5-6 years coming up with something. Because unfortunately that is not what people do.
Having said all of this, it doesn't change the fact that Obamacare was every bit as bad as the Republicans said it would be - but the Democrats passed it anyway. And made no efforts to address problems when it became overwhelmingly obvious it would fail.

No...Obamacare is not what Republicans said it would be

There were no death panels
It did not kill Sarah Palins baby
It did not destroy the economy
It was not a Government takeover

Obamacare will not fail

Exchanges in states that did not set up strong exchanges will fail. States that did not expand Medicaid will fail.......mostly Red States

What will republicans do when healthcare in their states collapse?

That all depends upon how you define success. If success is defined as providing affordable health care to U.S. citizens, then Obabblecare is already an Epic Fail. If, on the other hand, you define success as redistributing the income and wealth of productive American Citizens to Big Government, Big Parma, Big Insurance and the unproductive government dependent masses that constitute the Dem voting base, then it's a roaring success.

It destroyed a lot of people's economy.
There are death panels, so to speak. When my father died this past January they were very apparent. They don't actually exist, as in a panel of people choosing who dies...but the policies and requirements exist that they might as well exist.
It had the effect of a Government takeover, the U.S. Government...the corrupt U.S. Government. It is sooo good to be rich these days....never been better.

Regardless of Obamacare, there is no way to provide affordable healthcare for all. Healthcare is just freak'n expensive
Until you attack fees and Big Pharma......any plan is going to be expensive

That said.....providing healthcare for all is a desired outcome

Our economy is stronger than it has been in twenty years
There are no death panels any more than any insurance company deciding what will and will not be covered
The U.S. government sets guidelines......private insurance controls our healthcare

Of which I would agree.
However, since we supply the only large military force to protect just about the entire free world...and not one of the countries that DOES have universal care has a sufficient and expensive military, nor do they contribute finiancially to ours - your right..it won't work. Not to mention that our corrupt officials, just like with Obamacare, are out to protect the wealthy more than us.

Obamacare is the law of the land

Looks like forever

Laws are made to be broken.

9 years after the GOP started saying 'we will repeal Obamacare' they still haven't done it, even having control of all three branches of government they can't get the shit done.

You think it would occur to them that maybe, just maybe, their ideas for healthcare sucks rhino balls. And Trump said he'd get it done "quick, and it will cost a fraction of what it costs now and the coverage will be better".

And someone actually believed that shit.

The looming primary season just got a lot more expensive and nastier.

Sadly, most of the RINO contingent isn't up for re-election but there are other ways......

Psychiatric exams could be, for example, mandated by states.

You're right. In recent history at least, Democrats have proven much more capable of getting shit done. And now we've got all this shit. :dunno:

All of what.

All of the shitty legislation they passed.

LOL that narrows it down.

Well, I was referring to ACA in the current context. The Republican failure to pass whichever-repeal-and-replace-bill-this-was is a good thing. They narrowly avoided making the same mistake that the Democrats did seven years ago. Forcing these kinds of fundamental change on society with a narrow majority is corrosive.

The reason Republicans can't pass anything to change it is because people want the ACA and in fact want it expanded. The only modern industrialized nation on Earth that is left that doesn't have universal healthcare for all is the US. Why? Because of a handful of scumbags who still want to profit off of the misery of other people, and screw the ones that can't pay.

The whole thing is rhetorical, of course the Republicans could have come up with a replacement in 9 years. They don't want to replace what they didn't want in the first place they just want to kill it and to hell with anyone that can't pay. And it is Republicans in red states that are showing up at townhall meetings to tell their Republican Congressman not to end the ACA. They want it strengthened and made even better FOR THE PEOPLE, not the insurance companies.

Now, when the GOP lets the ACA fail, it is on them, or they can fix the ACA with the Dems. I predict party over country.

Its the old Macroeconomics Guns vs Butter analogy
An economy that spends excessively on guns does not have enough to spend on butter

In our case, the US spends more on defense than the next eight nations combined and six of those eight are our allies. It is a case of priorities in preferring to spend revenue on military protection of the world vs spending on services for our own people
