McCain would be the oldest president......

Typically, civilizations look at the elderly as being wise. WE seem to be the only civilization that look at the elderly as too old, therefore, not good enough.

HUH? please. Birth control should be covered, Viagra should not. It is only common sense.

You know, I've had time to think about this...and I really do think that birth control not being covered, and viagra being covered...may have some sexist roots. It may all go back to the idea that (Man has sex= good; Woman has sex = bad.) What I mean, is that Viagra servest the same purpose, just on the opposite end of the spectrum. It helps a man have sex. In the same context, birth control helps a woman have sex without fear of consequences....

I don't think it is intentionally so, but just a product of society.

Could be, me personally I would like to see Birth control covered If only to lower the number of Abortions in the US, and to prevent more Kirks :eusa_whistle:

Nah, it was just a joke, I respect anyone who is as passionate as you are about their beliefs, whether I agree with them or not.

We need people to be interested in these issues. Too many people don't understand what is going on.

.....ever elected. He is on 5 different medications. He has had cancer removed from 5 different parts of his body. He has had kidney stones. His medical record is 1,200 pages long. He takes ambien to help him sleep. I really don't think he would make it through his first term, in which case Mitt Romney would end up being president. God help us!

1. Sen. John McCain’s age (he’ll turn 72 in August) has been cited as a possible factor in the election outcome this fall. Is McCain’s age a concern for you?
1. Not at all. He’s apparently in good health, and he’s been sufficiently open about his medical records. Who says someone in his or her 70s can’t handle the job? McCain certainly could.
25%
2. It might. He’d be the oldest person ever elected president, and that’s worth considering.
22%
3. Yes. The presidency is just too stressful for someone in his or her 70s to handle day in and day out. I’d be concerned about his ability to function at a high level throughout his term(s).
51%
4. None of these
2%
5. I’m not sure

Bit of an overstatement, I think, if you're harkening us back to primative civilizations.

Yes, the ancients (often they might have been over 40!) were revered and often they had their place at the council.

But the leaders were typically not the oldEST, but the oldER who had the wisdom to consult with and understand the wisdom their ancients, but also they had the stamina to stand up to the straim of leadership.

I think McCain, based on how I see him already stressed just by this campaign, IS too old for the office he is running for.

He is no longer the robust figure he was even a decade ago.

And let's remember that if he is elected POTUS, he's got four or perhaps as many as 8 more years of responsibility ahead of him.

Time is cruel to the aging, folks.

Just as you mature much more quickly in your earliest years, so too does time erode your facilities much more quickly in your advanced years.

I know, its ridiculous.

I've seen 90+ year old men run global organizations so well they thrive, but apparently McCain is too old in his 70s. Nevermind his freaking mother is still alive and going strong.

Meanwhile the alternative is a guy who clearly is a few Mashmellows short of a bowl of Lucky Charms.

Guy with experience. Arrogant guy who cant articulate a position beyond change.... tough choice.

They may not fear the consequences, but there always are consequences. No matter how much we want to pretend there arent.

I know you are having a tough time. Obama is already beloved around the world which increases America's influence in a positive way. This is hard for you because he is obviously the better candidate. You can count on the old racist vote though. It will come through for you.

Better candidate? Holy crap Hillary was a better candidate than Obama. And she sucked!

You guys are so delusional. I can't imagine whats going to happen when Obama isnt the President next year.

Or, what will you do when he is?

Remember the rash of lib nervous breakdowns following the last presidential election?

Same thing again. Only worse.

On John McCain possibly being the 'oldest' President in history... Technically that is correct, but if you factor in relative life expectancy - there are other Presidents in history that were probably relatively older for the time in which they lived. For example, James Buchanan or Zachary Taylor were 65 and 64 respectively when they took office. But the life expectancy for them at their age, at that time in history (mid-1800s) was probably about 76 years old (a gap of 11-12 years). Correspondingly, John McCain can probably expect to live to 85 according to todays life expectancy rates (and based on his current age). A gap of 13 years. This puts him in the company of other Presidents, such as John Adams, Andrew Jackson - probably even Reagan...and certainly Harrison.

I'm not saying that McCain isn't old, he is - but history has probably had 'older' Presidents.
