McCain: Romney behind due to 'glimmer of hope' - POLITICO.com
Sen. John McCain says Republican Mitt Romney is trailing in the presidential race because voters are slowly taking a better view of the nation's once-wheezing economy.
"I think he's behind because Americans probably feel better than they did about jobs and the economy," the Arizona Republican McCain said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
Voters, McCain said, see a "glimmer of hope" - a dynamic that benefits President Barack Obama.
McCain, who ran against Obama in 2008, cited the improving economy in Ohio - a battleground state where Romney is behind - as an example of the Republican's challenges.
