Last time McCain ran for president he criticized Bush for taking the endorsement of Bob Jones University and spent some time telling Catholics what a bad man Bush was for accepting the endorsement.

Now, he's accepted the endorsement of the same type of anti-Catholic.

The president of the Catholic League today blasted Sen. John McCain for accepting the endorsement of Texas evangelist John Hagee, calling the controversial pastor a bigot who has “waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church.” blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/02/28/mccain_endorsement_angers_cath.htm

Flip-flop...

McCain visiting Bob Jones U. is probably the primary reason I would never vote for him... even more than the Iraq issue.

I really hoped that at least he'd stop pandering to the evangelicals. But I guess it's to be expected.

Shouldn't be... it's not like they're going to vote for him anyway. And he'd have had a much stronger showing of Indies and Dems if he stayed away from them.

Ok so now a representative can only serve either evangelicals or catholics...he can't serve both of there interests...is that what your saying?

Actually, they will vote for him just to keep either of the two Dem nominees out of office, just as McCain will accept their votes rather than tell them to piss off and have them vote for one of the Dem candidates.

Really, y'all act like you just figured out politics.

No. They won't... not in the numbers that the Dems will come out to vote for whichever dem gets the nominee.

I understand politics just fine, and I know how slimey the repubs will be with their "Hussein" trash... I am also under no illusions as to how effective that type of slime will be.

But, I think it was something like two dems voting for every repub in the primaries, though I'm not totally sure. And look at the money being raised by Dems. Hillary can't keep up with Obama with her 35 million dollars this month and even that was a record.

Primary votes won't matter come the General election. If Obama is the Dems nominee you will find a LOT of people voting to make sure he isn't President.

I think you are wrong. the hard core conservative right will vote against McCain by staying home.... the only democrat that could bring them up off their barcaloungers would be Hillary. She is so hated by conservatives that they would hold their noses and vote for McCain to keep her out. Obama raises no such ire amongst the hard right. IMHO

And you would be wrong. Obama is a huge threat to this Country. His foreign policy, his domestic Policy, any Judges he may get to appoint. He has not been taken serious by most of the right because they figured Hillary was whom they would be fighting.

Every time Obama's wife opens her mouth she adds voters to McCain. Every time the press tries to steal elections by claiming McCain is ineligable to be President he gets more votes. As soon as it becomes a 2 person race Obama will have to actually stand for something and what he stands for is dangerous.

He belongs to a racist church. He wants to cut and run in Iraq. He wants to appoint FAR left Judges to the Bench. He wants to turn America into a socialist Paradise. Believe me, Hillary was a walk in the park compared to Obama. And the word will get out and get out quick.

believe you???? I at least had the humility to express my thoughts as my opinion. I personally don't think you know DICK about politics, and I certainly have NO intention of BELIEVING your opinions expressed as facts.

This petty shit about McCain and the citizenship thing will not bring a single hard core ditto head conservative out to vote for him, IMHO.... they hate his guts. They are less virulent here than almost any other board I visit.

America is TIRED of Bush..and McCain cannot distance himself from Bush and doesn't even seem to care to try.

Actually, the Republicans don't have a chance in this election. Even Registered Republicans will vote Democrat in 2008. People are sick of the corruption and the war.

Just like the 2004 election right??? Bush suffered a landslide defeat.....LOL

Obama is an ultra-leftist liberal.....Mccain is closer to the middle, hence why ultra-conservatives have problems with him. But with that being said far-right conservatives as well as moderate Republicans and Independents will vote for Mccain because he is closer on the issues than is Obama. I would say this somebody in the Obama camp has to duct tape his wife's mouth, she is sealing his doom.

one wonders why Obama polls better than McCain among independents...:eusa_think:

He gets a chunk of the independents, he gets a huge chunk of those folks who are SICK of Bush and his policies, he gets all the democrats, and the hard core consevatives stay home.

This is true, but I think RGS' response it true, too. In a McCain v. Obama race, I just don't know who would win. Of the three in the race, Hillary is actually the most conservative.

But the more Obama goes the Hussein-Muslim clothes-black power-Louis Farrakhan-angry black wife route, the more he loses that "post-racial" luster he's supposed to have, and the more we see his views on the issues, the more he just looks like a hard-core left-winger - to the extent he even HAS positions, as he's very vague. I think America will go with McCain if that pace continues.

I think they will vote for him anyway. In the end even the conservative talk show hosts that hate him will vote for him because they'll want him to pick SCOTUS replacements and not a Dem.

But he has just lost the support of three Catholics I know that were on the fence.

I believe the polls also had Kerry winning the 2004 election too, but we all seen what happened right?

The polls had Obama winning New Hampshire, but Hillary won.....Wow look at that polls aren't everything huh?

Conservatives aren't staying home trust me, when they hear that Obama wants to spend 800 billion dollars in new governmental spending, they'll be out. What is Obama going to do in the South, when it gets out that his Pastor gave his highest Social award to a anti-white, anti-semetic. Louis Farrahkan stated that whites are potential humans through evolution. I can see him sweeping the south and not generating any excitement let me tell you.....LOL
