MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - At least 60 people were killed when a powerful earthquake struck central Mexico on Tuesday, officials said.

The highest death toll was in Morelos state, just south of Mexico City, where 42 deaths were reported. In the capital itself, mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said at least four people were killed..

I heard on the radio that they have found one youngster under the rubble of a school. They are trying to dig through the rubble in case there's more people alive but they have to work slowly so the pile doesn't collapse. Sad and scary stuff.

There are at least 200 deaths and more. 21 children of deceased in the kindergarten. Mexico is a country very frequented by Americans and tourists from around the world. some building did not withstand the earthquake yet it had had the one from 1985 to the same date (day to day)

Rescue workers are trying to free a surviving girl from the ruins of a collapsed school in Mexico City where 22 children were killed.

Foro TV reported that rescuers spotted the child and shouted to her to move her hand if she could hear them, and she did.

A search dog subsequently entered the wreckage of the Enrique Rebsamen school in the city's south and confirmed she was alive.
