There is a big push for gun control right now. But shouldn't we be looking at why these shootings happen?

Mass Shootings Are a Symptom of a Problem That Gun Control Won’t Solve

School shootings are a symptom of a very large, very dangerous problem. They are not simply a symptom of a need for gun control, or a symptom of a lack of accessible mental health services, or a symptom of an over-medicated, desensitized youth population.

I blame the commie/socialist/anti-American/racist lovin liberal Democrats...

Way too late and night and way too longwinded an article to peruse ATM but yes without knowing where she's going with this, it is indeed past time to look at root causes.

I've got my own pet theories whether we're on the same track or not --- in an earlier discussion I opined that mass shooting stems basically from the same motivation as rape.

But absolutely, way past time to quit fixating on symptoms and finally attack the disease.

Mental illness is what people have when they do something you wouldn't do.
Gun fixation is a mental illness that affects so many people in this country, it's almost a mental illness to advocate gun control.
And plenty of nutters here are quite sure anti-gun people are very sick people.

I'm talking about actual mental illness, which is something you clearly know nothing about.

Mental Illness is the real issue.

Yeah, that and fucked up parents. I'd much rather these sickos used baseball bats instead of AR-15s with high-capacity magazines. Why does this only happen in the U.S.? Gee, I wonder. Apparently the NRA hasn't infiltrated/infected other countries yet.

Just check out Switzerland for example. High ratio of gun ownership vs population yet they have not had a mass shooting since 2001. Clearly, America exceeds that via a failed diversity, cultural experiment

Parents definitely can play a part, yes. If you think the NRA has anything to do with school shootings I can't help but laugh.

Switzerland, like every other advanced nation except the US lacks two things that the US has.
1. Easy availability of assault weapons.
2. The NRA

Laughing at a serious problem is really helpful. People like you simply show ignorance and a total lack of respect for opinions of others,
