Mass Shooting At A Fort Myers Nightclub

It was suggested it was gang related. The fbi is now involved as well as atf, though.

from nbc-2
Police said they have detained three persons of interest in connection with the shooting, including one person who was shot at by a Lee County deputy during a traffic stop along Ortiz Avenue, according to a source.

At a 2 p.m. news briefing, Fort Myers Interim Police Chief Dennis Eads said more suspects are being sought. He also made clear the incident was not an act of terror.

"We are currently working closely with the Florida Department of law-enforcement the Lee County sheriffs office the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm agencies," he said. "Everyone has put in a different role. There's a lot of investigative hours going into this. But I remain very resolved that justice will be served."

Did anybody find anything about the attackers? I cannot find any information about the shooters. If it was not terrorist (but mass shootings always are terrorist acts regardless of the motive) related, then why the information is withheld or is it withheld at all?
I got that much myself. No information about the "persons of interest" though. Also, I thought gangs were fighting each other and don't shoot up a teenager event what was an open attendance event for anybody in the community. Do gangs want to draw attention to themselves by shooting up a teenager event? Come on....

Ooops, they did release their names-

Deputies said Derrick Church, 19, was driving and tried to run over a deputy, who shot Church in the abdomen. Church was treated and released from the hospital before being arrested.

Demetrius O'Neal and Tajze Battle, both 19, were also in the car and ran from law enforcement.

Gang related.
Sure it is, they said that at the first news release. Since then they've said nothing about the shooters. I find it somewhat fishy.

See my latest post. They did release their names.
And we had an incident in West Palm Beach, unfortunately, a few years ago where a gang member did the same thing at a very similar party. I am going to see if I can find info on these 3.

Defcon, this is interesting. According the article they were arrested for resisting arrest-

The three men who were arrested aren't being called suspects, their charges stemming from resisting arrest.

Church was also charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.

These kinds of mass shootings shouldn't be deemed newsworthy based on the motives of the killer, I fail to see why it is less important, if the shooter was in a streetgang or if he was a terrorist

Two of these guys- Derrick and Tajze- had played football at Dunbar High in Fort Myers. Demetrius has previously been arrested for prowling and resisting arrest last year and at 15 for robbery and battery. (must have been charged as an adult since it is online)

They haven't been charged with this crime as of yet.
And motive tells us what we arre potentially dealing with.

Yet, if this shooting had been committed for terrorist reasons this would be all over the news, but because it is a gang shooting it will now be ignored and not because it is less important but because the average nightly news watcher doesn't feel threatened by gang violence

Mass Shooting In Florida Nightclub - Report

Oh wait, it's in Florida which already has loads of guns.....

After spending days telling the Germans they are wrong for having strict gun control...... the right will probably give their reasons why there should be MORE guns.... right?
The United States provides the right for citizens to have guns. This is not going away. The debate should be about access, liscensing, and getting rid of selling guns in a parking lot; with the aim to keep guns out of criminals hands and allow them to remain in lawful citizens hands.
How do you propose to keep guns out of the hands of criminals? You understand that was the rationale for the 1968 Gun Control Act, right? And that it is obviously a tremendous failure. So what measure do you think will keep criminals from breaking the law?

How about taking "criminals" and locking them up behind bars like normal countries do? This ain't rocket science.

Sadly, you are right in some ways. Yet that is the fault of the media, and politicians in those districts where it is occurring. They seem to want to brush gang violence under the rug when it is contained within certain areas. Now when ms-13, the latin kings started entering tradionally non violent areas, suddenly they became news until contained somewhat again.
But, there is also a push to brush under the rug radicals/terrorists that are amongst our midst. And they can be your next door neighbor and you wouldn't have any idea. They are mostly silent, stealth, cunning and mostly patient until they pull off their attack. And then there is the subset with the same traits, that never surface, but provide psychological and material support, as well as recruit.
Living here in south Florida we are well aware, whereas those from areas that the 9/11 terrorists had not set themselves up among the general population don't feel quite that same sense that they walk amongst us.
They haven't been charged with this crime as of yet.

More charges possible for three men arrested after Florida club shooting
Tue Jul 26, 2016 - Three men arrested for resisting authorities near the scene a nightclub shooting where two teenagers were killed are persons of interest in the investigation and could see further charges, authorities said on Tuesday.
The shooting on Monday in the parking lot of Club Blu, in which more than a dozen people also were wounded, came six weeks after 49 people were killed at an Orlando nightclub by a man who sympathized with Islamic extremists groups. Police in Fort Myers, located on Florida's Gulf Coast, said they have ruled out any extremist ties to the Club Blu shooting but on Tuesday said they had not developed any possible motives. "Still investigating, interviewing and following up," Captain Jim Mulligan, a police spokesman, said in an email to Reuters on Tuesday afternoon.

You know, it is really sad, if it happens they were involved. One of the guys had a promising football career going but it looks like last year it was over. He had received offers from a number of schools as a #1 high school pick for his position and ended up at Al A&M and played a year. One of the others was also a good football player for his high school. The third guy does sound like he has been trouble for a number of years.

What happens that they get involved in the wrong crowd afrer their futures look so bright?

How do YOU propose to keep guns out of the hands of criminals? If your answer is "ban guns", then you should go buy a gun and use it on yourself for being such a complete retard.
