"Mass shooting" is not a political act per se, so "linking" such a shooter to "conservatives" or "liberals" or "left" or "right" is pointless. But this was a hate crime, specifically targeting Muslims. The same thing as Wade Page who opened fire at a Sikh temple because he was too stupid to know the difference between Sikh and Muslim. The same thing as Dylann Roof in Charleston targeting black people.

But your Stephen Paddocks and Adam Lanzas and Carl Robertses are, in contrast, not targeting some group that's been singled out by demagogues as a scapegoat. They're just indulging their own perverse disease on whoever's available.
