A petition drive against a measure allowing certain illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at Maryland colleges has succeeded in gathering enough signatures to put the legislation on the ballot.

The Maryland State Board of Elections on Thursday reported that 63,118 signatures have been validated. A total of 55,736 were needed to put the measure on the ballot for voters to decide in November 2012.

Linda Lamone, the state elections administrator, said there are about 40,000 additional signatures still to be verified.

The bill allows illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates at four-year public colleges if they complete two years at a community college after attending three years of high school. Students also will have to show that their parents paid state income taxes.

The hope for illegals to get instate rates is dropping quickly, already we have pulled it from becoming law on July 1, but it will now have to sit on hold until final disapproval after the 2012 election.
To help pay for this travesty, Governor OweMalley ended funding for scholarships for American students.
How does the illegal qualify for rights to instate tuition? simply by proving that the illegal parents filed a tax return in the state for two years previous. FILED, not Payed any tax.
And, since the Ignorant Governor of this state likes to refer to the filthy illegals as "New Americans" he has made it so they can get a license, they can vote, they collect public assistance etc... that money they get from social services is the dollar amount they will use to file, yet they wont owe a dime.
So here we have the democrats dream in a nutshell, Actually, its not fair to call this democrat since most of the states voters are just more than a bit pissed at this. It is the democrat bleeding heard U.S American hating governor that wanted this.

I only hope that I find out my signature was disqualified, I will sue for a violation of my right to petition so fast that their bean eating heads will spin right off their little mexican bodies.

You would have to be "far right" to make an idiotic statement like that. You need to do a little research as to why we have a government at all. No offensive at all. how about you leave all the colleges and all of the students and while we are at it, leave Russia out of it and tell me where we would be.

Better yet, how about you look and see how the government tried to take claim to the internet for National Security Reasons.

You really should look into what you are typing before you start typing it.. as a hint, Ive been working with the internet since 1978, and at times, it was even in the area of research and development.

Unless you consider Grants to improve on what a couple students came up with in college, the government has very little to do with it. (other than trying to regulate it now)

If ownership of the internet were to be explained, the best way is that nobody owns it, it is now a combination of private industry, schools, business and government. The infrastructure is over 90% privately owned, as in servers, satellites and wires/fiber etc...
