    They really don't matter anymore. We have our common history and links, but other than UK, most of western Europe is irrelevant to US. That doesn't mean they are irrelevant to themselves, after all the have 'their glorious past' to keep them warm and safe...

    America had better learn to get along with the EU because the "United States of Europe" is going to be a power to be reckoned with not too many years down the road. The CIA, as usual, is insane if it truly believes that the EU will be a temporary power on the world scene. Put that one in the bin with the other CIA misses (that North Korea would not invade South Korea, that China would not intervene in the Korean War, that Russia would not try to place missiles in Cuba, the collapse and breakup of the old Soviet Union, etc., etc., etc.)
