Speaking of which....here's a nice little story from Time Magazine online talking about it. The State Department swears that the Marines at the Cairo Embassy were armed and had live ammo. Course they would, because admitting otherwise just might become a serious problem in security and a serious problem for the Obama Administration. Fact is, there were zero Marines at the Libyan embassy. This alone is a serious breach in security.

As any Marine’ll tell you, if there had been Marines at Benghazi, they’d be among those killed.

But what’s worse? No Marines or unarmed Marines?

There’s a disquieting report in Thursday morning’s NightWatch blog that claims the Marines 700 miles away in Cairo were barred from carrying live ammunition as the U.S. Embassy in Egypt came under attack:

Thus she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy. Of course she can. The embassy is under the control of the Ambassador. As long as something is not prohibited, she can do what she likes. The state department does not require that guards be unarmed. But, there's no mandate that they be armed either. This is at the discretion of the ambassador. I assure you that our embassies in London and Paris do not have armed security guards.

Of course she can. The embassy is under the control of the Ambassador. As long as something is not prohibited, she can do what she likes. The state department does not require that guards be unarmed. Ambassadors cannot reduce security below the level of set guidelines. If she reduced them lower than the requirements set by the Obama Administration she should be history.

Any officer has to take due diligence for the safety of any personnel under their command. Any deaths can cause them to be punished according to UCMJ and relieved for cause.

This Ambassador shouldn't be able to relax security, especially during known threats and especially on 9/11. Any fool will tell you that.

I can assure you this is no excuse for the Obama Administration. They have to answer for this.
