The enthusiasm for Hoffman has now shifted to a new upstart politician, Marco Rubio, from Miami, Florida. Rubio will be contesting Republican Governor Charlie Crist in the 2010 race for the US Senate. He was born to Cuban immigrant parents, worked his way from community college to law school, and is the current Speaker of the Florida House of Reps.

It would appear that the right is promoting non-traditional candidates from all walks of life. This could prove worrisome for the republican party elite, I reckon.

He has recently released his first broadside against his primary competition:

Crist wins this state hands down if he gets the nomination. Its a toss-up if Rubio wins.

Florida is a right-leaning state, not a conservative state. It helps the GOP that the Democrat party is so incompetent though.

That sounds about right.

Lots here in NW Fla don't much like Crist.

I beg you to nominate Rubio.

If Rubio wins the nomination, he has a real shot at winning.

Crist probably walks away with it if he's the nominee, however.
