You're so right. It's the only explanation for how they vote against their own interests and for the interests of the millionaires in every election. They hate the poor so they use their vote to benefit the rich, even though they are working class. It makes no sense, but it's explained by their hatred for the poor. And the weirdest part is that they claim to be Christians, which is a religion that teaches it's sheep to love the poor and help the poor and that it's easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get to heaven. So it's all kinds of twisted thinking that has them voting for Republicans. It's all that right wing propaganda, paid for by the multi-millionaires, that's twisted their minds.

I don't understand what the man's political affiliation has to do with anything or why someone would list the thread title as something that isn't proven. This is why I always liked the rule that states all thread titles must match the article title. Prevents things like this.

The important point is millionaires should not be collecting food stamps. Period. It's a waste of valuable money. And in case no one has been paying attention we're not exactly prospering right now. We're 14 trillion in the hole. It's time to clamp down on bullshit like this. Think of how much money we could save by only giving government assistance to those who actually need it.

The funny thing is that I have seen the same type of thing in other areas. My girlfriend is a millionaire. She works a job that pays $12 an hour, mostly so that she gets her health benefits. Here is what really bothers me. Her daughter is getting a substantial amount of aid to go to college. Not just student loans, but straight out aid that is paying for most of her schooling. She qualifies based on her mother's income, which is minimal, but they ignore the fact she has over $1 million in assets, and that doesn't even include her house.

Of course, my girlfriend is a lot like many of the people here on USMB constantly bitching about those taking advantage of welfare on the taxpayer's back.

He could have been working but wasn't. He CHOSE to stay out of the workforce to spend his time in school yet he still collected full enemployment benefits for over a year with no intention of looking for a job during that time. In fact, he didn't look at all. He just went to school a couple of hours a day collected. Did I mention he lives with his Mom rent free?

To answer your question, yes, he did pay in but he didn't pay in anywhere near as much as he got back.

He took advantage of the system. Personally, I'm fine with it but I do find some of his positions on issues pretty damn hypocritical considering his real life situation and actions.
