I heard about this on Rush. The story gave me the creeps. I think that rats should not be kept as pets. The reason is that many probably release them or their pups into the wild where they become wild rats and carriers of disease.

It illegal to keep a rat as a pet in Alberta, Canada (which, I believe is a good idea, and I wish more places would follow their example. Rats are a public health menace --- the best rat is a dead one, IMO)
