Malkin: Miers Comes Up Short

I have really been smiling inside over all the consternation that has come forward with the Meirs nomination. I ask myself, "really what is this all about"? I think I have the answer!

It is a long standing practice of the media to try and get the names of those being considered for appointments so they can talk about them incessantly, either positively or negatively. This time around, President Bush blind-sided them with a nomination that was not on their radar screen, and thus they have nothing to talk about prior to the confirmation hearings. Therefore, the only thing they can do is gripe about it, even though they know nothing about the views Meirs may hold i.e originalism relating to the constitution. Too bad Wills, along with many others, has made himself look like a fool by making his prouncements before she has uttered a single word.

President Bush has had an outstanding record on his judicial appointments, and I think he has made a stroke of genius nominating an individual that the socialist Democrats can not bloviate about prior to the hearings. Too bad so many conservatives are listening to the libertal press and the likes of Will who did not have Meirs on their personal lists of who should be appointed.

Way to go President Bush!! You out-foxed them again!!!
