Make Wall Street Pay

Wall street didn't cost me anything.

People who took mortgages they couldn't afford and then refinanced every time their homes went up a dollar in value did though.
Are you surprised no one on Wall Street has faced federal charges of securities or control fraud?

After the much smaller S&L looting in the 1980s hundreds of bankers were charged and convicted, and every conviction and filing was covered in the corporate press.

This allowed the public to more fully understand the crimes themselves and also government's role in facilitating the crimes.

I didn't inflate and collapse an $8 trillion housing bubble or profit from the nearly $13 trillion bailout of those who did.

What accountability do you expect from those who caused our current economic problems?

The accountablity began on 11/2/2010...

wall street does pay... in fact they've paid really well over the years... thank you wall street !
Wall Street pays really well for a small percentage of Americans.

For everyone else...

"Thanks largely to the $13 trillion Wall Street bailout – while keeping the debt overhead in place for America’s 'bottom 98 per cent' – this happy 2 per cent of the population now receives an estimated three quarters (~75 per cent) of the returns to wealth (interest, dividends, rent and capital gains).

"This is nearly double what it received a generation ago.

"The rest of the population is being squeezed, and foreclosures are rising."

Thank you, Wall Street!

Didn't Reagan and Cheney prove deficits don't matter?

"The events and policies that have pushed deficits to these high levels in the near term, however, were largely outside the new Administration’s control.

"If not for the tax cuts enacted during the presidency of George W. Bush that Congress did not pay for, the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that were initiated during that period, and the effects of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression (including the cost of steps necessary to combat it), we would not be facing these huge deficits in the near term."

Are you expecting GOP freshmen in congress to turn on Wall Street and the Pentagon?

Critics Still Wrong...
