Majority Believe Dems Abused Power

But, they'll forget everything you just said about Repubs, right?

"People" forget.... as soon as its Football Season, and their bellies are full of pork rinds and Budweiser.

The Republicans suffered huge setbacks at the polls in two elections. That was their punishment. The Dums have suffered some minor but telling election setbacks. Maybe the GOP has learned its lesson. It certainly seems to, as not one Republican voted for the awful health care bill.

Again, I'm not certain that 14 months is ample time to determine

A. If the 48 months of the Obama Administration will only include windowdressings attempts to appease critics of the Administration's partisan politics.

B. That Repubs have "learned their lesson."

Frankly, I believe that Immigration Reform (SUBJECT OF ANOTHER FORUM/ THREAD) would be a great opportunity for both sides to win some credability. Obama could claim (WITH REPUBLICAN SUPPORT) to have given amnesty in exchange for much increased border security (Army patrols, with orders to shoot).

The Obama Administration only included window dressing after Brown's election. Prior to that they weren't even concerned with window dressing.

The GOP achieved remarkable unity in the face of tremendous blandishments by the Dums to vote for their unconstitutional and unpopular socialist takeover of health care. I suspect the election will also be a referendum on Republicans who bend over to take it in the ass from Democrats in the name of bipartsanship.

What this poll goes to show is just how gullible the public is. All it takes a few people throwing a bitch fit because they didn't get their way, and it's suddenly "controversial".
"Controversial" is when one or two Dems of whatever rank or status speak up against an R proposal or bill; controversial in this case means there are important arguments on both sides

"Divisive" is when Republicans speak up against a D proposal or bill; divisive in this case means the arguments against a good policy are unworthy of open debate because those opposing lack credibility because of hypocrysy, reputation, or associations.

Operating in this paradigm, any opposition to Obama's policies is divisive while any policies proposed by President Bush during his adminstration were controversial.

So what? This still doesn't mean that the first 14 months represent 48 months of the Administrations ability to work on a bipartisan level.

The GOP achieved remarkable unity in the face of tremendous blandishments by the Dums to vote for their unconstitutional and unpopular socialist takeover of health care.

Well, I guess "achieving remarkable unity" counts for.......???? What?

Lower Taxes? Smaller Government?

Think of another, less vague, pithy achievement.

Ya like the Jews achieved remarkable unity in putting thier own children in cattle cars headed for death. You neo con assholes wouldn't know true unity of national purpose if you were standing naked in a huddle waiting for your promised "shower". Face it ...you are a scared little man that only thinks what's in it for yourself and believes anything that indicates a shortcut for selfish punks like yourself is the path. You are nothing new though....there were plenty of Royalist loyalists at the moment when good men did good things for all men. There were even more snakes like yourself trying thier damndest to do the devils work for the British. Damn those rebel terrorists!...right Rabbi? Damn those who have a vision of a better america.

You are the petty good german jew that horded his wealth when his bretheren were being slaughtered. Piss on you Rabbi...and all like you.

The Obama-ites have so poisoned the well by demonizing the GOP that it would take a remarkable act of contrition to have the credibility to work with the GOP. While it could happen history suggests it is very very unlikely.
Achieving remarkable unity bodes well for the next time the GOP is in a position actually to influence legislation. Currently the Democrats can pass every bill they want without a single Republican vote.

It sounds like you believe the GOP deserves a pity vote since Obamacrats have bent them over like sissy boys at a gay frat party.

Sorry, but they'll need to do better than Squeel Like Pigs.

What Legislation has the GOP written to significantly decrease Gov't Spending?

Except there are tons of things that are called controversial now that were never considered as such by the media when the Republicans were in power. Reconciliation is "controversial", even though Republicans used it numerous times. Deem-and-pass is "controversial", even though the Republicans used it dozens of times.

Obama hasn't poisoned the well for the Republicans. The Republican brand is down in the dumps because they horribly mismanaged the government the last time they were in control.

It's an interesting poll, and certainly shoring up independents support for 2010 elections is important, but Obama has, if nothing else, shown a propensity for mobilizing large swaths of people to vote (be it positive or negative) quickly. I think polls around august - september will be more telling of the situation once the lack of propaganda from both sides die down.

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on where you stand) for the White House, the public regularly forgets legislation like this within months if they aren't reminded, so they have the option of downplaying it till election or really trying to ramp its merits up. Either way, I don't really like it, I think they should let the bill speak for itself after shoring up its unsound portions. As long as economic recovery continues and if they can begin to stem job losses, there won't be too much of a switch during the 2010 mid terms. It remains to be seen whether this is good or bad.
The Republican Party must do everthing possible to keep the issue alive, and that cannot be done by talking about polls. (not talking about you here Boedicca) The people speaking for the party, the most voluble leaders Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence, Boehner, Cantor, Lamar Alexander, the Doctors (there are more Rep Docs than Dem docs (have credibility); the Republican governors, because they have statewide recognition in their states.

:clap2::clap2::clap2: Congrats... you made "The List".....for being dangerously stupid.

I don't know...maybe you are just a victim of superficial and shallow perception. Maybe I have just fucking had it with "polls" taken of brain dead zombies fresh from a devolutional mental feeding from the "box". X billion dollars paid to fox in advertizing dollars for products no one can even go out and buy(perscription drugs)and direct ads= whatever opinion would serve the overlords causes.

Maybe I was just rolling around "American Horse" in my head and landed on whores for 100 dollars Bob.

Maybe I had a white and brown paint Montana cutting horse when I was 11 -14 and the fucking nag(Monty) threw me a few tmes when I was least expecting it. I hope that damn horse is still sitting on some dusty shelf as dog food. I really don't know and I am not above admiting that.

If that's what it sounds like you need to stop posting here because you're an idiot.

Obama ran on being bipartisan. He fucked that up royally. In the next Congress he will either need to learn to work with the GOP majority (ala Clinton) or he will be the longest lame-duck president in history. His history suggests the latter, as he is the biggest ideologue to occupy the Oval Office ever.

What legislation has the GOP written that has had a ghost of a chance of making it to the floor for consideration, much less a vote?

I suspect we will see a very different set of Republicans in November. The compromisors and panty wastes will be gone.

The last time they were in control?

First, its been very rare since Democrats controlled both the White House, and congress between 1961-1967 that ANY political party has been "in control." However, during this time, the size of gov't certainly didn't shrink.

Repubs controlled congress:
1995-2005

I wouldn't say Gov't was "horribly mismanaged" during this decade. it was about evenly split between Clinton and Bush. The size of Gov't continued to grow.
