Luxury items are flying off the shelf!

Mercedes-Benz said it sold more cars last month in the United States than it had in any July in five years

They better buy them with bullet proof siding.

The economy is about to tank again and people are going to be real mad.

good to see such investment in an American company.

In their defense, they do build some of them in Alabama.

But I suspect that the people who buy the $525 swim trunks wouldn't be caught dead in a lowly Mercedes.

Yes built in AL by a foreign owned company who got/gets massive tax breaks to move here.

Ironic that the Teapublicans scream 'SOCIALISM!!!' :tinfoil: right on que w/ Faux N00z and claim that it drags everyone into poverty. Germany produces many Luxury goods, has a thriving export market, and historically lower unemployment rate.
Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Germany has a social market economy with a highly qualified labour force, a large capital stock, a low level of corruption,[84] and a high level of innovation.[85] It has the largest national economy in Europe, the fourth largest by nominal GDP in the world,[86] and the fifth largest by PPP[86] in 2009. The service sector contributes approximately 71% of the total GDP, industry 28%, and agriculture 0.9%.[47] The average national unemployment rate in 2010 was about 7.5%.[47] First estimates indicate a 3.6% increase in the price-adjusted GDP for 2010, following a 4.7% drop in 2009.[87]
Germany is a founding member of the EU, the G8 and the G20, and was the world's largest exporter from 2003 to 2008. In 2009 it remains the second largest exporter and third largest importer of goods.

These are $730. Lets make fun of her now

No they aren't.

Yes they are.
They are the only ones who can afford to buy things right now.
Thanks to Government interference in everything and anything, the high prices on food and gas is where the rest of us are spending money.

Quick question.

1 million dollars.

Better for the economy if it:
A. Sits in a bank.
B. Is invested in a business that employs 10 people.

Which is it?

You make 1 million in one year the feds get 350,000.00 of that.
It leaves you 640,000.00.
10 employees make around 42,00.00 a year. That come to 420,000.00 a year.
That leaves you 220,000.00 a year.
You still have to pay for their health care, and part of their social security and Medicare.
Then you have operating expenses, of which costly regulations make you pay for new machines or what ever else it might be, depending on the business.
That leaves you with practically nothing, or nothing at all.
This is why we have such a problem, this is why our business are either moving or going out of business.

Unfortunately, this never enters their equation. Besides labor costs, you have marketing, advertising, rent, city taxes, state taxes, federal taxes, fica, healthcare, gas, etc and the list goes on. So after all that, you take out your little pittance and pay more taxes on your personal income.

Seems like a relativly good sign that things are turning around.

I hope.

Loving the class envy on display here. Especially the post where they should fear for thier lives. Just love when wanna be tyrants let one slip.

There is nothing wrong with the wealthy spending their money on whatever they want. The problem is that the middle class is not spending money, because they don't have any. While the rich spending their money helps the economy, buying an $800 purse doesn't create nearly as many jobs as the middle class buying ten $80 purses.

Oh there's no shortage of middle class women buying $800 purses, trust me.

That's why I used the words 'seems' and relativly.

Great news would be places like wal-mart and Target having products fly off the shelf.

wonder if the upper middle class should consider armored cars themselves....

Amazing that this thread shows just what many conservatives say happens, when people have more money they spend it and the economy moves because of that spending...

What are we supposed to debate?

Do you guys think it's a bad that people with money are buying stuff or would you like them to horde their cash. Come to think of it, don’t you guys bitch that rich people horde their money? So what is it, are they buying stuff or hording? Or are we supposed to fight over why they are not investing in business when everyone knows the second any growth happen that is worth a shit Obama and Dems (you guys too) will call for massive tax increases...

Then libs defend extended unemployment because the money is spent therefore bolstering the economy. :eusa_whistle:

C. Spend it...

I guess that option didn't make it in because it would make you look like an idiot being that is what the thread is about... Nice job Swallow!

SO I guess we are supposed to fight over why the rich do not make jobs when we don't have the demand and when taxes will go way up for them if they do! Nice, you're an idiot!

Good points, I didn't notice b/c I was hung up on the fact these people should fear for thier lives.

But this spending is Bush's fault still. Since nothing is obamas doing, Bush is still able to pull this minor improvement off as he sleeps.

The dims are still running the show.

Ask them.

More liberal pap designed to encourage class warfare. How's this for a twisted example: The Times checked with Mercedes Benz they hadn't sold more cars but they decided to twist the facts like a pretzel with "Mercedes Benz sold more cars in July than any July in the past five years". Wow.

It is amazing that so many liberal minded people misrepresent a "conservative" standpoint on the economy. Like Obama and the Dems passed the Bush tax cuts, making them Obama's tax cuts, but then these people turn around and claim "where are the jobs?" Tax cuts are only part of what help create jobs... part, and when you extend tax cuts why would that create more jobs, you’re extending the current tax code, not giving more tax cuts or incentive to help create jobs.
