Loyalty?

No argument, you idiot. Questions. Why can't you answer them?

Becaue since you feel that you do not need to be loyal to the country that has protected your freedom you do not deserve an answer. Here's a demand though move your fucking ass out of my country.

So George Washington should have packed his fucking bags and got out of the King's country?

You love the Constitution and idolize the guys who wrote it- yet you hate anyone who asks a question? How do you feel about traitors and traitorous murderers who wage guerrilla warfare against the government?

Then why were so many of the FF known to be such loyal Englishmen early on?

Why didn't Franklin (the Tory that he was) do his job? hell, he supported the Stamp Act and he was representing the colonies to the empire. Why did they vote for a guy who spent most of his time in Britain? Same reason they vote for anyone, I guess.

It's debatable regarding the whole taxation thing. Evasion was rampant and most colonists really didn't pay them. If if they had, they're nothing like we see now and you insist this government protects our rights.

If the Colonists had left French-controlled Ohio alone-and not attacked French troops- maybe there wouldn't have been a war to help pay for afterward. Of course, the new taxes to pay for it (save the one on tea) were repealed when the colonists cried about it.

Oh yeah, and Hancock and others were smugglers- they complained because the King tried to prevent their criminal behavior. It's like the Crips waging a war over the government taking the money they made from crack.

So what rights, exactly, did the Crown fail to protect? Keep in mind that the Magna Carta established many of the rights the colonists enjoyed as citizens of the English realm and which they were more than happy to keep in place under common law when this new nation was established.
that's why we went to war.
Why, exactly?

So shut the fuck up and start packing.

Get a rabies shot and calm down. Answer the questions I asked earlier.

Can anyone explain to me why I should feel any loyalty to or camaraderie with some person or group just because we are genetically similar or happened to be born in the same geographical area? Why, other than the rulers' interest in maintaining control, am I expected to be loyal to the system in control at the time and place of my birth?

Don't feel loyalty, feel free to move to Iran anytime you want.

what's entailed in being loyal?

Not asking stupid questions about loyalty.

You haven't packed yet?

I'm wondering whether the people in this thread who are saying "move elsewhere" would of told the Founding Fathers they should just suck it up and move to France if they don't like living here.

What about after that, when they decided they didn't like living under the Articles of Confederation anymore?

So you can't answer the question

Proof positive that Americanism is a religion

The [dogmatic] novice, subjecting his soul to the canon law of [the leaders], [feels] something of the release which Catholicism also brings... Once the renunciation has been made, the mind, instead of operating freely, becomes the servant of a higher and unquestioned purpose. To deny the truth is an act of service. This, of course, is why it is useless to discuss any particular aspect of [the matter] with [these people]. Any genuine intellectual contact which you have with him involves a challenge to his fundamental faith, a struggle for his soul. For it is very much easier to lay the oblation of spiritual pride on the alter of [political vision] than to snatch it back again

The God that Failed

There's a difference between can and will not. You like all other enemies of America do not deserve and answer or to be talked to.

I guarantee you can get a bunch of LOYAL Americans to pitch in for a one way ticket to your socialist paradise of choice, prehaps Venezuela? Many a good Jew hating country also, prehaps Iran?

If you accept citizenship, take fruits from this great country, then you should be loyal to it!!! Its a privilege to be called an American. The BEST privilege known to man! Do you have to agree with everything she does? Nope and that is the great thing about being an American.

I don't agree with Obama and hope he loses the 2012 election, but I would take offense of a foreigner verbally attacking him. I don't think he is a good president, but I would take a bullet for the man and we been extremely saddened if anything happened to him!

Newsflash, Ghook: America is a socialist nation. It has been for quite some time. Thank a Wobbly.
Its a privilege to be called an American. The BEST privilege known to man!

Why is that, exactly? Why is it better to be an American than any pf the nations that are measurably better to live in?

We top none of those

How about, instead of bitching, you listen to those of us who would make this nation better?

And when Americans do it here on these boards?

So you're back to simply being a coward too scared to address an issue that chalanges your faith...

that seems to be your usual MO

At least I do not have to ask a question about loyalty. Fuck you, you do not like it here and you feel your heart is else were it would be best for you to pack your shit up and leave.

My first reaction to JB's post was as negative as everybody else, but in retrospect, it is actually a fair question.

And in all truth, the answer is no. We are not obligated to accept the sociopolical system we are born into nor are we obligated to accept without question the basis it was founded upon nor the nation that it has become.

HOWEVER, when the vast majority of the population do not feel victimized nor oppressed nor violated sufficiently to overthrow that government, those who don't like it should find a place that suits their ideology better and leave.

I would MUCH rather those who find the USA distasteful to just leave it rather than stay and spoil it for the majority who still love it. That does not suggest that I won't identify and try to use as much influence as possible to correct what I see wrong and try to make it better which is a whole different thing than feeling disloyalty.
