Bridgestone

The non-union, low tax state of South Carolina landed yet another huge business investment, even with Obama's NLRB's lawsuit vs Boeing for locating there. The Japanese company Bridgestone has made a $1.2 billion expansion investment in South Carolina. The largest investment in the history of the state. In THIS economy at that.

Well done (R) Gov. Nikki Haley:clap2: She and the state's Dept of Commerce invested $15 million into infrastructure around the proposed site (yes, giving money to a corporation) to jure them there, gave them tax credits, and that $15,000,000 investment resulted in a return investment by that company of $1,200,000,000. Almost a 100X return investment.

Why can't left wingers realize reality when it comes to the relationship between business/government???????????????????????????:cuckoo:

Caterpillar Inc. said Thursday it will spend $1 billion over the next two years to expand capacity in five of its Illinois factories, and will shift production at some of its plants.

Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar, one of the world's largest heavy equipment manufacturers, said the expansion is necessary to meet demand for machines used mostly in mining and large infrastructure projects, particularly overseas.

Caterpillar plans $1B plant capacity expansion - USATODAY.com

The pro-union, moderate tax state of Illinois landed yet another huge business investment. NOT the largest investment in the history of the state, just normal business. In THIS economy at that AND selling to foreign, non union nations.

CONGRATS to Governor Pat Quinn (D). :clap2:

Why can't right wingers realize reality when it comes to the relationship between business/government? They don't have to screw over the taxpayers to bribe a few jobs. That a well trained, unionized workforce will ALWAYS produce superior products??????? :cuckoo:

In reality that’s the low wage, no benefits, no job security third World State of South Carolina. Of course businesses are going to ‘invest’ in states that will allow them to maximize profits with low wages and little or no benefits for workers. It’s actually something SC should be ashamed of – it’s not the Palmetto State it’s the Prostitute State.

In a testament to the failure of top-down economic planning, a monopolistic “one size fits all” approach to education and record-setting state budgets, the Palmetto state’s competitive position has taken a sudden and precipitous nose dive.

According to CNBC’s annual “America’s Top States for Business” rankings, South Carolina plunged from No. 31 to No. 37. That decline was based in large part on the state’s worsening academic achievement and increases in cost of living.

Despite record funding increases over the last two years, South Carolina has seen its education ranking drop from No. 39 to No. 46 over that same period, the survey found. Sadly, that’s not surprising seeing as our already abysmal graduation rate has continued to decline – mirroring retreating SAT and stagnating ACT scores. Also, a recent report found that more than one-third of the nation’s 100 worst public schools are located in South Carolina.

Life is also getting more expensive in South Carolina, as the state’s cost of living ranking has dropped from No. 19 to No. 28 in just two years. Also, the state’s “cost of doing business” ranking – which is keenly watched by industrial recruits – has fallen from No. 6 to No. 14 in just one year. Obviously, that indicates diminished competitiveness on the tax front.

S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s office did not respond to our request for a comment on the report. Also, a spokeswoman for the S.C. Department of Commerce was not immediately available for comment.

I’m sure they didn’t.

They'd better make sure to make Friday payday because if the pay them on Thursday, the goobers and hillbillies and rednecks will go out and get loaded and not show up for work on Friday.

South Carolina's unemployment rate is 11.1% as of August.

which means they really needed this.

They really need the NEW Boeing Plant that promised 1000 Well paid Jobs as well. To Bad Obama wants to force Boeing to Open the NEW line in Unionized areas only.

Obama is one of the best presidents ever, if you are one of the 15% or so of people who are in a Union.

Sucks ass for the rest of us.

Yeah, Because you know, Liberal Union workers in Seattle they never go out and get loaded before a work day right?

lol

Way to show your Bigoted take on Americans who live in the South.

That is precisely why he must be a one term dud.

YAAY! We have just sold more of America!

Be proud folks.

How we gona have liberty when we get to be mostly owned by foreign interests?

Damn shortsightedness is what got us here in this mess in the first place.

Agreed. Which is why they gave them such a sweetheart deal.

Agreed. Which is why they came here, and not Seattle or SanFran or New York.

Business is coming to SC fast. And all the Northern transplants flocking here is proof that SC isn't the state that the Obama's would like you to keep believing it is. Visit sometime. You'll see why businesses and Northerners are flocking here.

Most people who talk trash about South Carolina have indeed never been here. If they spent a week in Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Hilton Head.......they'd be desperate to find a home here like the other thousands of Ohio, PA, NY natives who are migrating here.

We are the last best-kept secret in America. The rural areas in the middle of the state suck, yeah. But the coastal area and mountain areas are amazing.

And I bet if you looked into SC's unemployed.....almost all would be in the rural "Corridor of Shame" that the sacred James Clyburn represents, along with the other small % of SC residents who vote "Obama".
