Lounging Liberal Laughter

By James Bredin

Their questionable conduct is never a crime,

Their high ethical appointees will decide all the time,

Then they’ll clog you mind with issues of the day,

Maybe same-sex marriage for their friends who are gay.

While we tilt at windmills that Ottawa ignores,

No referendums, recall and they won’t help out in wars,

Their status quo is there and there is no other way,

No proportional representation unless you are gay.

Their voting blocks will all get a preferential hearing,

From rogues to refugees and gays volunteering,

And no one should go to war without UN permission,

The Americans did just that so they’re in opposition.

And we should all be helping out in Africa instead,

But they too are having a problem counting all their dead,

They had that UN Convention on the Rights of the Child,

Which meant exactly nothing when statistics were compiled.

But the UN feels so pompous pious proud and grand,

Produced the Earth Charter that you just don’t understand?

And you haven’t even read it and you don’t even care,

We’ve got our own Charter written by Chretien and Pierre.

While the adscam affair has almost gone to bed,

Pushed to the background by the same-sex stuff instead,

Politicians afraid to use the notwithstanding clause,

Wishy washy weasels careful of the Ottawa cause.
