The newscasts are making a big deal about all the "many" lost children but don't give any real numbers. Also you don't really hear alot about how the kids got lost either.

Why are heck are these children lost in the first place? I can understand some situations like where a child is was in a hospital when the hurricane hit but what are the other valid reasons for losing track of your child?

I haven't heard of any stories of children being washed away from their parents. All the children were home from school and should have been hunkered down with their parents when the hurricane hit. I can't understand why so "many" would be lost. Is this just a NO superdome phenomena?

It seems that some children were either just left alone for some reason or maybe not watched very carefully? Some say they were separated from parents when picked up by helicopters or put on busses. Why on earth would a parent let himself/herself be separated from a small child because some idiot says to take separate busses? Why would you let a small child take a different bus by himself? That's just crazy. Also it seems to me that at least one parent would go with any small children lifted out by helicopter.

I know exactly what you mean. I can't figure it out. It is pretty amazing....how in the world did all this kids get "orphaned?"

Well I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who is befuddled about all the "lost children".

I just saw another parent crying about her missing son....the son is 30 years old! That's reaching a bit isn't it? Maybe this "missing child" reporting is mostly just hype by the media to report something people will get all misty eyed about? (and to keep the ratings up?)
