Not that I will be devastated by the loss...I got along fine for over 60 years without knowing he existed. "He" in this case is a successful, older black man...a doctor of ophthalmology, 20 or so years my senior, grew up through the segregated times feeling the sting of "colored only" and "white only" signs and rules, is now married to a gentile black lady that grew up in Mississippi. They have been together for umpteen tears though this is not his first marriage. They both worship Obama.

I am a white male from Mississippi that grew up through the tail end of segregation guided by my parents and teachers that had little if any racism in their hearts. After having three beautiful children, I rejected the simultaneous verbal invitations of three contemporary acquaintances to join the KKK and I let them know right away that I would kill all three of them if anything subsequently harmed any member of my family. I have a long history of accepting all races of people as friends. I met "the Doc" at a fashionable bar and we became friends over a period of time during the weekly visits to this fashionable bar. I've been to his office a couple of times for eye exams and prescriptions.

Then Obama came along and stole the Democratic nomination from Hillary Clinton. Discussions with "the Doc" often became heated...especially when I brought out the Marxist facet of Obama. ANY criticism of Obama was "jus' cause he's black".

I grew up being taught to hate communism, Marxism, socialism...to cherish our freedom, our flag, those that fight for it, democracy, capitalism, charity and an unbeatable military. My hatred of Obama and his Marxism translated to racism in the mind of my friend. He thinks my "Mississippi upbringing" caused me to be a racist and has maligned my upbringing (my parents) on several occasions.

I contend he is too stupid to realize that hatred of Marxism and Marxists has nothing to do with the color of their skin or the race of their origin.

I have told him to fuck off. My question is, should I forgive him once again and continue to be his friend or just write him off as a senile, racist asshole.
