Sen. Mikulski become nation's longest-serving woman in Congress - latimes.com)
Known simply as Sen. Barb, the name she uses as both her Twitter handle and in conservation, the 75-year-old Mikulski has fostered a generation of women lawmakers, who now number not quite 100 in both houses of Congress – but far more than when she was the only female in the Senate after being elected in 1986.
Fittingly, she represents one of the bluest of blue states who advocate liberalism  She's only 4'11" too  :D

Ok, investigations of her while in office: -0-. Committees:

Committee assignments
As of April 2009, Mikulski serves on the following Senate committees (standing committees in bold):
Committee on Appropriations
Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (Chairwoman)
Subcommittee on Defense
Subcommittee on Homeland Security
Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs.
Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.
Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety
Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging (Chairwoman)
Select Committee on Intelligence

Voted against the Iraq disaster, as did RON PAUL, not a hint of scandal. Against predatory lending, in favor of most anti terrorist legislation. NOT bound by party, untouched by scandal.

do I need to explain what the term/word HOW means?

the last 2 sentences in your post are all that matter,a) they ALL sit on committees......b)she voted against iraq, fine by me c) everyone is against predatory lending that means poopey, and, she has a lifetime composite 85% liberal rating. so whats this NOT bound by party bushwah? take a look at her positions, shes a lock step democrat so your post = just another partisan rah rah.

why?

Her time in Congress has been marked by integrity, hard work, and brains. Much like Olympia Snowe who I also admire.

She certainly started with integrity. she is actually closer to Ron Paul than she is most Democrats.

America is not a melting pot. It is a sizzling cauldron for the ethnic American who feels that he has been politically courted and legally extorted by both government and private enterprise. The ethnic American is sick of being stereotyped as a racist and dullard by phony white liberals, pseudo black militants and patronizing bureaucrats. He pays the bill for every major government program and gets nothing or little in the way of return. Tricked by the political rhetoric of the illusionary funding for black-oriented social programs, he turns his anger to race — when he himself is the victim of class prejudice.

[He] has worked hard all his life to become a 'good American;' he and his sons have fought on every battlefield — then he is made fun of because he likes the flag. The ethnic American is overtaxed and underserved at every level of government. He does not have fancy lawyers or expensive lobbyists getting him tax breaks on his income. Being a home owner, he shoulders the rising property taxes — the major revenue source for the municipalities in which he lives. Yet he enjoys very little from these unfair and burdensome levies.

... [T]he ethnic American also feels unappreciated for the contribution he makes to society. He resents the way the working class is looked down upon. In many instances he is treated like the machine he operates or the pencil he pushes. He is tired of being treated like an object of production. The public and private institutions have made him frustrated by their lack of response to his needs. At present he feels powerless in his daily dealings with and efforts to change them. Unfortunately, because of old prejudices and new fears, anger is generated against other minority groups rather than those who have power. What is needed is an alliance of white and black, white collar, blue collar and no collar based on mutual need, interdependence and respect, an alliance to develop the strategy for new kinds of community organization and political participation.

If she really wasn't bound by party we wouldn't have Obamacare right now.

Why? She is a career politician and no one has caused more harm and damage to this nation than career politicians who know good and well the founders did NOT want nor encourage people to make a career out of sucking up at the public trough and did not want our government populated by people who didn't know how to earn an honest day's living and in the belief that existing as some kind of "entitled" ruling elite was not good for this nation. They got that right. So she is the longest serving female career politician currently in office. Big deal.

I was living in Maryland when she first got elected to Congress. I hated her then just as I do now. Term limits! We need term limits. Two terms in office is enough for anybody. Anything more is simply sucking from the tit of the fattened pig we call government.
