LMAO :) "Lady...it's called CRACKER Barrel for a reason!" :)

My girlfriend loves it but I refuse to wait more then 45 minutes to eat anywhere. So we rarely eat there.

When i go out to eat, i want to be seated within 20-30 mins. I want a waiter to acknowledge my existence within 1-4 mins of me sitting down. I want food to be served in a reasonable amount of time (obviously its longer on busy days). I don't want to see my waiter goofing off while my soda needs to be filled or my food isnt on my table yet. Then at the end of my meal, i don't want my waiter to disappear for 10 to 15 mins while i just want the check to get the F out of there.

Is that too much to ask?

I avoid the place as much as possible. The wait is so long that my kids end up asking for all the toys on display. The food is pretty good though once it finally comes.

My father in law insists on going there anytime we go out as a family.

As far as Mrs. Rock being ignored. I wish I had a dollar for everytime my husband and I went to a restaurant and got seated in the back and completely ignored. My husband started timing them and after 15 min. would go off to find someone.

We once went to a Chi-Chi's.
1. 4 glasses of water poured on me.
2. manager never came out to say sorry
3. food was wrong
4. husband finally complained ( I was ready to go home after the water).
5. Manager told husband, he didn't need to yell and should calm down.
6. NEVER WENT BACK.
7. everyone at our table was white and so were the restaurant staff.

Moral of the story: some places just have bad service, get over it and don't go back.

Good restaurant service has become rare these days, unless you want to pay big$$$$ for what may be a mediocre meal. You have to look hard for a restaurateur that “KNOWS” good service. There are a few out there, very few though.

When I worked restaurants 90% of the time the customer didn’t have to ask for anything. We were attentive, we watched, we knew what you needed before you did. Glass half empty it got refilled. Bread or rolls low you got fresh w/butter. When the meal was served by “YOUR” Waiter/Waitress, (the same one that took the order, not someone you hadn’t even seen) someone would be by to check on you before you could get started good to check if everything was alright, then back again after you did start eating to see if you needed anything. This was typical service and it was delivered regardless of “how busy” you were.

Back in that day tips weren’t split like they are in many places now. IMO this is a factor in the lack of service today. There is no incentive to give good service when you know at the end of the night ALL tips are split equally. Hard workers gets cheated and the lazy get rewarded.

I hate what restaurant service has come to. My tip always reflects that too.

Exactly. Shitty service is almost entirely a result of this.

Splitting tips SUCKS! The hard-working servers always get the bad end of the deal. :(

1.) I hope Chris is embarassed by this :D

2.) It's the fucking South.

3.) It's fucking Cracker Barrel in the South.

4.) Did I mention it's the South?

5.) They don't have to say anything to you. I didn't have that happen to me. She also neglects to mention if others came in after her and were seated before her, etc.

Problem with half of the country kid? I have lived all over this country and been treated just as bad in Illinois as California as New Jersey as Texas. It is pure ignorance to demonize an entire section of the country this way but I understand, you're one of those tolerant liberal types. Some of the worst treatment I ever received was from an asshole pretending to be a woman in a San Francisco restaurant..... surprise, surprise, a homosexual with an attitude. It's amazing how the people that bitch the most about being oppressed become the worst oppressors when they are in a majority.

Rednecks are the same all over the country, ignorance is the same whether they call themselves liberal or concervative. I guarantee that your car will be screwed up within a day if you use your freedom of speech in New York City and put a bumper sticker on it proclaiming you are a Republican and are voting that way.

True. I traveled the Country daily for years, many times with a black co-pilot. When we went to lunch or dinner, I must say the worst service we got was in the North or NE not the South.

Tips are split? Seriously? That is the utimate in communist fucking incentive programs. No wonder service sucks ass. I always give around 20% when the service is good and if the service is bad around 12-15%. If the waiter is ridiculously god awful, I leave no tip or the change from the bill. But now i see that its not really punishing them. This is retarded.

Actually the way most chains now operate is that you must "tip out" a percentage of your food sales. Typically 2-4%, depending. This is collected and then divied out either amongst the non-wait staff (ie hostess, bussers, etc.) or everyone including wait staff. Typically the former. So, if you sell 100 bucks of food, you must pay 3 bucks to the kitty, no matter if you made 3 or 30 dollars in actual tips. It's not full on socialism, but it's close.

Important note: this does occur more in chains. Most of the stand alone places pay more attention to service and being fair to the hard working employee. They understand the employees can make or brake the place, regardless of how good the food is. They tend NOT to carry a lazy servers either. So guess where they end up? Yep the chains.

Gotta love business models! :)

Although if you go to an Outback Steakhouse or Lone Star which are everywhere the service is excellent for the most part. I think it really depends on how well chanis are managed to very specific standards set forth by the corp that owns them.

Yea, and the worst thing about it? It was a "tax driven" change.

Uncle "deep pockets" couldn't figure out how to charge tax on tips.

Just another reason why I think the IRS should be abolished.:usa:

I dunno, 30 minutes is a pretty long wait after you've already been seated to not have anyone come up and at least ask if you've been served yet.

That said, seeing as how she got up and complained about it and the manager then offered her a free meal... thats pretty standard and should've been the end of it.

If it was me I would've ordered the biggest steak on the menu, lots of adult beverages, and then crawled out of there pushing a doggie-wheelbarrow.

Anywho, seems more of a case of money not changing people than race to me. :dunno:
