"Living Wage" for Everyone?

For those who support a "living wage" minimum of $15 per hour, how about applying that standard to everyone? We could then do away with other "entitlements" and just guarantee every adult $2500 per month. That would be a lot cheaper than what we are spending now.
I don't understand what point you are trying to make. If we raised the minimum wage, millions of people would no longer be eligible for programs like food stamps and public housing.

Oh bullshit, they'd just up the threshold.... the dependency class is too important to the DNC.
No one could afford to give up those benefits. In almost every state "welfare dependency" is the highest paying job. This is the problem.
Christ what is it with you in just making shit up?

With growing automation, a growing population.. We will need to switch over to something like a basic income eventually.

Thats so stupid. Polls show most Americans want a higher minimum wage - not more food stamps spending.

Here's a thought... get out of minimum wage. Anyway, like I said, it's a bullshit issue, here's the breakdown:

  • Disproportionately young: 50.4% are ages 16 to 24; 24% are teenagers (ages 16 to 19).
  • Mostly (77%) white; nearly half are white women.
  • Largely part-time workers (64% of the total).

Who makes minimum wage?
You people always post the typical bullshit. You're only talking about the 3% who make 7.25 per hour. If it was raised to 10.10, 18 million people would see a boost to their wages. Those statistics don't apply to them.

Thats HILARIOUS coming from the biggest failed poster on this board.
Welfare: A Better Deal than Work

And since you'll just vomit the "rightwing spin media" bullshit I'll ask you to identify precisely what is wrong with their argument.

What is this with making shit up all the time?

This article is so fucking stupid and only you would buy into it. Their calculations are based on ALL the welfare programs in a given state. NO ONE ON WELFARE IS ON ALL OR EVEN MOST OF THE WELFARE PROGRAMS SIMULTANEOUSLY.

/fail.
Many are on many of them. And that still provides more income than most starting jobs.

No they aren't. You're just making shit up.You do know, of course, that SS and Medicaid are included in this. That applies to old people and the disabled. For able working people, they are on TANF and food stamps which both pay shit.

Better yet reform and overhaul the corrupt insurance industry and turn the SBA back into an actual low cost loan program run by government employees for truly small business enterprises. Take away all the big government freebies for big business all the way around and let the people re-establish the economy with organic business enterprises. Reform the judiciary and legally slay every corrupt politician, lawyer and judge out there.

Unfortunately you can't turn back the clock on the damage that Republicans have done to the middle class and poor. What you can do is even the playing field.

-Base Federal tax for corporations at 30% of revenue.

-Raise minimum wage to $23.50/hr. Based on where minimum wage should be using 1970-2015 rise in food, shelter, and transportation.

-Eliminate all business subsidies (deductions/write-offs/write-downs) except for employee expenses which are deducted dollar-for-dollar on all city, state, and Federal taxes and fees with the Feds refunding city, State, and fees.

-Companies with 500 employees or less, employee expenses above the deduction are subsidized at 100% with funds usually give back to the States.

-Adjust Social Security and private/public retirement and pension payments using 1970-2015 price structure.

-Remove the FICA limit.

-Back down ALL costs, prices, fees, to January 1, 2009 levels and hold them for 10 years which will eliminate inflation.

-Recall ALL off-shore investments tax free, and disallow any further off-shore investments.

-Make inversion illegal.

No, why not just mandate a 15.hr wage for everyone. Doctors, hedge fund managers, engineers, fry cooks. Everyone makes the same. That's income equality!

For those that aren't making a living wage: 'a wage that is high enough to maintain a normal standard of living.' If you can demonstrate that Doctors, Hedge Fund Managers, and Engineers don't make a wage high enough to maintain a normal standard of living, you may have the first logical point of your life.

Somebody's gotta work bub.. it just doesn't work that way. The problem isn't the minimum wage, the problem is people don't the skills to take them past $7/hr. Anyway, it' a myth that there are all these people trying to support families on MW. It just isn't true.

If you can make a logical argument that 'skills' actually take you past the $7.00/hr level. For instance, a company that doesn't have jobs that require an advance education.

How much does an employer pay a worker that makes them all of their money?

WELL, SOON<, VERY VERY SOON< WHEN PRIME MISTER BERNARD SANDERS TAKES OVER WE WILL BE MAKING A MILLION DOLLARS AN HOUR , BUT WE WON'T BE ABLE TO BUY ANYTHING BECAUSE STORE SHELVES WILL BE EMPTY, ASK THE CUBANS, VENEZUELANS....

The US isn't a third world country. Third world workers is what the GOP wants to achieve.

I could agree with what is bolded in your post. I'll consider the rest and possibly put a response in when I finish thinking it all through.

We should guarantee everyone a Rockin' Wage! Why fuck around with just getting by?
