"Living Wage" for Everyone?

There are two separate issues....1. Women being paid less than men for the same specific job with the same qualifications. 2. The nation's income wealth accumulating disproportionately in to the hands of the few, while everyone else is stagnant or losing ground.

Employers do not pay the same to people that have the same job, they pay more to the employees that produce more.

They also pay more to employees that are at work everyday. They pay employees more the longer they stay with the company in many cases. In spite of women working today, they are still the nurturers of the family. When a child is sick, they need to stay home with them. When she is just about to give birth and after birth, she will take several weeks, months and sometimes years to tend to her child(s). When a school has problems with a child, or the child needs to be picked up because of illness, it's the mother that usually punches out to take care of those family matters.

Now if you want the wealthy to stop accumulating money, then stop giving it to them. Simple as that. Because sometime this week, you are going to give those millionaires and billionaires your money just like the rest of us do.

You are going to buy a new Microsoft program, maybe a new video game, how about that new smart phone you wanted? You are going to stop to put gas in your car instead of taking public transportation, you might stop by one of those billion dollar franchises like McDonald's or Burger King for dinner. How much of your money did you give to the millionaires and billionaires for Christmas this year? You like this internet? Then cough up the money so those millionaires and billionaires can supply it to you. Same goes for your cable or satellite television.

For those who support a "living wage" minimum of $15 per hour, how about applying that standard to everyone? We could then do away with other "entitlements" and just guarantee every adult $2500 per month. That would be a lot cheaper than what we are spending now.

I really don't know if having some kind of min wage actually hurts hiring since we have had a min wage for years yet we still have full employment. I do think that if min wage is set to high we will price a lot of jobs out of the market. We already see that in a lot of states that have high min wage laws. Considering that min wage isn't going to go away I don't see what is wrong with setting min wage somewhere below market that way it doesn't interfere with the market itself.

Min wage jobs are and should NEVER be filled by adults as minimum wage is only for kids at it IS humiliating. I would NEVER settle for that. To survive one needs to make at least $20 per hour and that's on the low side.

That's who mostly has minimum wage jobs--people that don't really have to have the money.

Kids do work those jobs. So do mothers who have their kids in school. Some seniors have part-time minimum wage jobs just to get out of the house or so they can feel like they are still worthwhile to society. College kids can always use that extra money.

Not a lot of people who support themselves have a minimum wage job. Minimum wage workers are less than 3% of our population. However a major increase in our minimum wage would affect much of the other 97% because you can't increase wages for one sector of people. It has a domino effect on the entire country.
