No... it can't... period. What he meant, and it's clear as a bell, is that there are people who call into talk radio POSING as a soldier, or veteran, when they clearly are NOT. They don't have their facts straight, and don't know shit about the military. There are soldiers who have been to Iraq and who criticize the war. There are soldiers who have been to Iraq and think that the war is going well. There are people who have not been to Iraq (but who claim to have been there) but who will say that the war is going poorly. Which does not change the fact that Rush was clear about whom he meant, "phony" Soldiers, people that claimed military expertise they did not have, that had not been to Iraq nor served in the military past boot camp. He was clear as a bell , he specifically said he meant "phony" in reference to THOSE kind of people, his example being the most recent liar.
