When I think of America, I think of freedom and liberty. I think of America as a grand experiment of noble ideas, where all people are created equal, where people are not persecuted for their beliefs, where people can make themselves into anything they want, where anything is possible. America is not defined by blood. It is not defined by religion. It is not defined by class. Ideally, blood, religion and class are irrelevant. In America, your fate is not pre-ordained at birth, as it is in many countries. In America, anyone can become President. In America, anyone can become rich. In America, anyone can rise to any status in life.
In America, thought is not a crime. You are not defined by how you think. Defining people by how they think is a throwback to the 17th century at best, and in league with tyrants and dictators at worst.
America is an inspiration to many around the world. It was the Statue of Liberty they raised in Tiananmen Square when the Chinese were protesting for more freedom.
America is not perfect. America has not always lived up to the ideals for which it stands. But you ask me what America stands for? America stands for freedom and liberty. The American ideals are the most noble in the world.
I have traveled extensively and have lived in two other countries. I can live anywhere I want in the world. I choose to live here. I love this country.
