ABC News' Steven Portnoy reports: The nation’s most listened-to conservative talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh, practically declared war on the newly-elected leader of the Republican National Committee today, following a television interview in which the RNC chair called Limbaugh’s show “incendiary” and “ugly.”

In the interview that aired Saturday, Michael Steele, who became the Republican chairman last month, took umbrage when CNN’s D.L. Hughley suggested that Limbaugh is the “de facto leader of the Republican party.”

“No, he’s not,” Steele said. “I’m the de facto leader of the Republican party.”

Referring to Limbaugh’s statements that the talk show host wants President Obama “to fail,” Steele said, “Let’s put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Yes, it’s incendiary. Yes, it’s ugly.”

Limbaugh responded today with an on-air diatribe against the new party chairman that ran nearly 20 minutes, alleging that Steele is more interested in being a “talking head” on television than leading the party to electoral success.

“I hope the RNC chairman realizes he’s not a talking head pundit,” Limbaugh said. “It’s time, Mr. Steele, for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work that you were elected to do, instead of trying to be some talking head media star, which you’re having a tough time pulling off.”
....
“Why are you running the Republican Party?” Limbaugh openly asked Steele. “Why do you claim you lead the Republican Party, when you seem obsessed with seeing to it that President Obama succeeds? I, frankly, am stunned that the chairman of the Republican National Committee endorses such an agenda. I have to assume that he does because he attacks me for wanting it to fail.”

No, he's not. That job is taken by Limbaugh, so he doesn't need any competition.

When are the real pols going to realize that engaging in discourse with Limbaugh just makes people pay more attention to him? Just ignore the big gasbag, and maybe he'll fade into the dustbin of history a little more quickly.

"I'm the defacto leader".

What an idiot. That's all it's about. He's jealous of Rush's audience. This is why the Republicans are so fucked. They actually are fucking themselves.

When will they ever learn. The more you bring up Limbaugh and give his comments weight, the stronger he becomes?

Do you ever listen to him? I imagine you don't. Hence your superior attitude.

So what's new? Wasn't it Rich Santorum with the man on dog thing?:lol::lol:

I have listened to him He's a gassbag and wrong many of the times. He is an enternaner who makes more money by preaching the hate of the left. Now his radio fame has gone to his head (doesn't need mental viagra for that) and he actually thinks he's an intellectual and not emotional. What a laugh.

I can't believe that he might have a problem with a permanent relation with a woman.:eusa_whistle:

Of course you think he's wrong, you are an imbecile that buys into every bit of bull shit put out by the idiot left. Nothing new here....... you are a joke.

I've been asking for someone to post evidence of Limbaugh being wrong for more than a year now. Not one person has replied with evidence that he's ever been wrong. It's apparently just something they say.

Plenty of people have, you just ignore it.

I'm pretty sure if you polled the base, they wouldn't be so wild about Steele. He's there because he's black. Politically, he's a moderate-to-liberal who thinks reaching out to black gang members will boost for the fortunes of the GOP. What a crock.

I listen to him enough to know that what I said above is right on target. Usually, I listen in while on the treadmill at the gym. My headphone radio only gets his station, country music, and a few rap and other junk music stations. Most of the time, the talk station is playing commercials to pay for Rush's outrageous salary, so I'll flip back and forth between talk and country until I hear his sweet voice, then listen until the next commercial.

So, yes, I have heard enough of his entertainment station to know just exactly what it is all about.

Rush IS the official voice of the Republican party.

I'm absolutely thrilled that this happened, and I'm certain Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt must be terribly pleased, too.

GO RUSH!

Bobby Jindal called Rush a great leader for the republicans last night.

This just gets better and better.

Rush is right to the extent that the party needs to stop being Democrat-lite. It hasnt' really worked out for them. I think it's a good thing that many of the right wing radio programs of late spend as much time chastising republicans as they do the left. Many of us on the right are waiting for a republican who doesn't just say he's small government, but will show that he is. Obama has already lied about that. it took him less than two months to go back on his word about earmarks.

Obama lied about being in favor of small government? When has he ever claimed to be a small government advocate?

The Republicans are supposed to be in favor of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Are supposed to be.

A supposedto and $5 will get you a latte at Starbucks. The saying used to be that a supposedto and a dime would get you a cup of coffee, but that's out of date now.

Neither party is currently the party of limited government and fiscal responsibility. If the Republican Party is ever to make a comeback, then it will have to become credible as having such a stance.

Forget the peripheral issues of global warming, abortion, gay marriage and so forth. The real issues are economic issues, and the role of the federal government.

Obama lied about not being a socialist.

He lied about earmarks.

He lied about making jobs and fixing the economy.

He lied about his preacher.

He lied about working across the aisle.

He pretty much lied about everything.
