I used to think it was sad that the republican party was so rigidly monolithic but this schism is somehow worse. Someone in the GOP should have predicted the hazard of letting the nutjobs near the levers of power but they just had to win congress at any cost. We are witnessing what is known as a "Pyrrhic victory", perhaps the most costly victory any American political party has ever had. The GOP deserves their dysfunction and backstabbing but America deserves better than this shit.
