Lie by Lie: A Timeline of How We Got Into Iraq | Mother Jones

They're the reason we're in this financial mess. Well, not the ONLY reason, but they brought it CRASHING down on our heads with ther uber partisan, unpatriotic and deceptive policies.

Let's never forget.

Happy New Year folks.

ROFLMAO!!! Mother Jones time line has such a selective memory...

Come on Marc, is this the best you can do???

Can you debate any single point? All I see you doing is making silly flap yap.

We lost over 4000 of our sons and daughters in Iraq. No WMD, no connection to 9-11 or Al Queda.

Actually, binary agent shells were indeed discovered in Iraq. Zarqawi was in Iraq before the invasion.

You are correct that there was no connection to 911.

And the Bush admin let Bin Laden go, justice was served only when we got a President that announced, without any Cowboy theatrics, that he meant to capture or kill Bin Laden. And President Obama arranged for that to happen.

Obama certainly gets the credit for taking out Bin Laden. What did he do that was so special?

Here you go, I and many others have posted the same, when you can explain were this belongs in the debate, maybe, just maybe we can get somewhere on who's to blame...

Democrat Quotes on Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
-- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
-- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do"
-- Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
-- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

2nd post today with the same title. The left wing propaganda machine must be desperate. A little historic perspective: Harry Truman didn't seek permission from congress when he sent Troops to Korea. Three years later and 40,000 Americans lost we settled for a truce and give 'em hell Harry and his failed general got a tickertape parade. Democrats had access to the same intelligence sources as president Bush and former president Clinton who claimed that Saddam was developing WMD's. Democrats had almost a year to figure it out and in the end they voted to allow Bush to use combat Troops to enforce UN sanctions. Democrats sent the Troops to Iraq and then they sat back and undermined the mission or worse with ads like "betray-us" designed to undermine the morale of the Military and democrat senate majority leader telling the Troops that "the war is lost" just as the Troop-surge was underway. Barry Hussein did everything he could to undermine the mission when he was a senator and then he had the gall to claim victory in Iraq.

Still believe the lie that Bush lied eh? Obamaturd is more responsible for the current economic woes. Idiot.

Goddamned right Bush lied. And lied, and lied. He should be serving time for war crimes.

But then, assholes like you argued that Al Ghriab was fun and games.

Did Al Gore lie?

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

1. Bush stated in 2001 that iraq was not behind the attacks of 911.
2. Bush did not let Bin Laden go.
3. Obama did nothing more than any other President would have done. And I doubt he had anything to do with arranging the operation.

Iraq was a complete waste of time.

And anyone who argues Bush used Clinton's Intel is so full of it. I support the USAF and all of its space based missions. We have birds that can track anything, anywhere and at any time. Not including optics. Bush has plenty of intel. To argue otherwise is a lesson in utter futility.

you righties are insane and a disgrace to America. started with Panama, and has carried through to this current Iraq mess.

Funny how the libtards always ignore the war drum beatings from Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Albright, etc. starting back in the nineties and then in utter futility just say soimething retarded like "yeah, but at least we never actually went to war".

Yeah.....it's lookin' like they overlooked the time......

JANUARY 2001: During Bush’s first week in office, Richard Clarke requests cabinet level meeting on al Qaeda and Bin Laden. His request was denied.

And it is just as wrong as this one. The only way one can believe Bush lied is if they believe Clinton Lied, Congress lied, Foreign Countries lied, the UN Lied, etc etc..... Selective memory indeed.

So Iraq was Clinton's fault.

Every single thing Bush said about Iraq was said BY CLINTON for 7 years from 93 to 2000, by his Administration and the INTEL was developed in those 7 YEARS.
The difference WAS.......Clinton wanted to finance the opposition to Hussein......

"Yesterday, Clinton signed into law HR 4655, the "Iraq Liberation Act of 1998." In a presidential statement, issued by the White House, Clinton said, "This Act makes clear that it is the sense of the Congress that the United States should support those elements of the Iraqi opposition that advocate a very different future for Iraq than the bitter reality of internal repression and external aggression that the current regime in Baghdad now offers. . . . On October 21, 1998, I signed into law the Omnibus Consolidated and Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act, 1999, which made $8 million available for assistance to the Iraqi democratic opposition. . . My Administration, as required by that statue, has also begun to implement a program to compile information regarding allegations of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes by Iraq's current leaders as a step towards bringing to justice those directly responsible for such acts."

.....and, Lil' Dumbya wanted to prove to everyone he'd made a magical-transition.....from an AWOL-Chickenhawk, to a big-bad cowboy.....who wasn't afraid o' NO WAR, NO MORE!!!!!

Seems Obama's most popular decisions involve continuing with some of Bush's military doctrine. It's the only thing he's been successful in.......other than prolonging a poor economy.

Btw, Obama kept Bush's Sec of Defense and kept his military commanders in place.....till they started mouthing off about how bad a leader he was.
