I had to read this one three times to make sure I was reading it right.

Now the libs are blaming Pres Bush for CNN's dismal ratings and Fox News for being #1.

Correect me if I am wrong, but the libs said Rush would not be around for long once Clinton left office.

Libs have said Sean Hannity would be off the air once Clinton was no longer President

When will libs learn it is the slanted reporting of the news that is causing viewers to leave CNN and tune to Fox News?

Market Watch: Fox News Ahead Because of Republican President
Posted by Greg Sheffield on August 18, 2006 - 13:18.
CNN is so exceptional with its shows and journalists, so there must be some other reason why Fox News is ahead. Thus writes Jon Friedman in his "Media Web" commentary at MarketWatch.com.
Friedman rattles off a whole litany of reason why CNN is exceptional.

CNN, a unit of Time Warner, has invested a lot of its parent's dough to assemble a first-rate global reporting and production staff. It features such reliable and charismatic on-air stars as Nic Robertson and Christiane Amanpour abroad. Peter Bergen is rapidly becoming the most compelling voice when it comes to analyzing the ongoing worldwide terrorism story.
In the U.S., CNN has a very deep bench, too. John King, its long-time top White House reporter (and now a senior national correspondent), stands out in what I've regarded for many years to be television's finest Washington bureau. Fortune's Andy Serwer, who appears regularly on CNN's breakfast-hour show, is the most analytical business-news commentator around -- and the same goes for the New Yorker writer Jeffrey Toobin, when the topic turns to legal matters. Further, the lively "Reliable Sources," anchored by Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz, is an hour-long look at journalism's weekly hits and (mostly) misses. The show stands out for its consistent excellence even though it faces stiff competition on Sunday mornings.

Perhaps only CNN would have the ambition to present a documentary such as "In the Footsteps of bin Laden." It will air on Wednesday evening at 9 p.m., Eastern.

The question:
So, with all of this firepower -- and powerful Time Warner bankrolling Klein's ambitious strategy -- where the heck did CNN go wrong in losing ground to Fox? And how can it leapfrog over its chief foe?
The answer:
I suspect that Fox will remain No. 1 for as long as George W. Bush calls Crawford, Texas, -- I mean the White House -- his home. That's how strong a base Fox has built among supporters of the president. That's how high the mountain is that CNN must climb.
Democrats have the same question: "Our stances on the issues are so superior, how come we never win?" The loser of last season's Superbowl, NBA Championship, and Stanley Cup, all had the same question.
The opposition media to the president always see an increase in its audience. During Bill Clinton's presidency, The American Spectator saw huge growth with its never-ending broadsides against that administration. But CNN's ratings have shrunk, and it has nothing to do with Bush.

Friedman believes that because Fox News rose to prominence during the Bush administration, this increase can be attributed to the fact that there was a Republican president. But Fox News did not gain access to many television markets until the Bush administration, at which time it could finally dominate CNN.

They're both horribly slanted. Fox caters to Republicans with little competition, while CNN caters to Democrats, while competiting with other Liberal networks.

Little competition? Fox News has more liberal on their networks, then the number of conservatives on CNN and MSNBC combined.

That article had me:rotflmao:

I was picturing Friedman:cry: as he was writing it....

Competition within the market of different media outlets.

You have four cable news networks and Fox creams the other three.

Perhaps the folks are tired of the slanted left wing til of the other three, and want to here BOTH sides express their opinions?

Fox gets half, the other three all get 1/6th.

Just curious: How many jounalism awards has CNN won, and how many has Fox won?

More important question is, how many stories turned out to be false the other networks had to retract?

The fake National Guard documents, the Koran being flushed down the toilet, 10,000 dead in new Orleans, ect, ect, ect

Fox has not had to retract any stories they broadcast. They get the stories correct, while the other networks report what they WANT to happen and not what actually happened.

And that is a fact that the liberals and librulls cannot handle....

The other fact libs cannot handle is Fox News has more libs on their network the then number of conservatives on CNN and MSNBC COMBINED

Of course, the rabid left dismisses these libs as "not the right kind of libs"

Who cares what awards they have won? What does that really say about the quality of the product? Who cares if they give themselves awards?

I feel the same about hollywood in general. Its so great to keep watching them give themselves awards. And if you look at the movies they get the awards for its a bunch of crap.

Yeah it might be an award from the top people in the industry but when the leaders of an industry are slanted to award only those with a certain point of view or who do it in a certain way who cares?

Of course, over at CNN, do they try to imporve their product to compete with Fox News?

Of course not. They take the liberal way - they insult the foks who watch Fox News

CNN's Cafferty: 'The Dumb Ones Watch Fox'
Posted by Megan McCormack on June 22, 2006 - 17:45.
What do you do when you’re a cable news network struggling to keep up in the ratings? Do you lure viewers away from your competitor with programming that they would want to watch, or alienate those same viewers by insulting their intelligence?

The latter seems to be the strategy for CNN’s Jack Cafferty. Shortly before 5pm EDT on the June 22 The Situation Room, Cafferty made this remark to substitute host John King after reading viewer responses to his question of the hour:

John King, substitute host: "Jack, I’m glad they always tell you exactly what they’re thinking."

Cafferty: "And, and they’re pretty smart, too."

King: "Yes they are, yes they are. Thank you very much–"

Cafferty: "The dumb ones watch Fox."

King [laughing]: "Ouch! Ouch, ouch, that’s going to bring some more e-mail."

Cafferty has not been shy to hide his contempt for Fox News, or the 'F-word network', as he referred to the channel in 2005. As Newsbusters reported in February of this year, Cafferty opined that Vice President Cheney's decision to do a sit-down interview with FNC's Brit Hume was "a little like Bonnie interviewing Clyde." Apparently, Cafferty doesn’t believe that you make more friends with sugar than vinegar.

Cafferty is a friggin loony tune....

The man exudes hate.. I expect to see him projectile vomiting any day now, with the hate he spews...:puke3:

:cuckoo:

I'm done with this debate, which is why I've resorted to joking.

Nice try on the overgeneralization, we can always expect an ignorant comment from RSR.

You're done in this debate allright. Done because you know the MSM is left slanted to the point that old PRAVDA might seem a independent news source. What's killing you and the left is that for the first time since the 1950's the left cannot slant the news its way without exception. You had your chance at indoctrination of the American people. You won several victories: Vietnam; Abortion: Socialism of welfare and medicene, indoctrination of our children by your teachers unions. But the tide of history and intellectualism has turned. Face it the socialists world wide are dead. It's the Islamo-fascists,and their self loathing Euro-peons now that share your hatred of Western Culture. And with them you now find safe haven. Imagine that; an American siding with those that seek his imminent destruction. So far has the left fallen that it knows not whom its' real enemies are.

Why do you assume to "know" me, when I've never even responded to any post you've ever made? I don't think I've ever supported socialism. I've never supported Islamo-facists or anyone that hates America.

I'll get back into the "debate", you still haven't even offered a rebuttle to my point. Fox appeals to Cons with little or no MSM competition. CNN appeals to Libs while competing against other MSM competition. If you're done with your rant, then tell me how CNN expects to appeal to viewers in one of the more politically divided time in our nations history.
