Libs Big Lie on McCarthy is embarrassing by now

It simply amazes me how historically naive people are. Apparently it's like the news, what they see on the nightly news, CNN etc, and watch on a TV, they take as gospel truth without reading. Talk about gullible morons, no wonder this country is in such a financial mess no one can add, subtract, and read anymore. Do your mind a favor, watch the news, then pick up the Wall Street Journal or New York Times, and compare.

From: Edward R. Murrow - This Reporter | American Masters | PBS

Murrow’s love of common America led him to seek out stories of ordinary people. He presented their stories in such a way that they often became powerful commentaries on political or social issues. See It Now consistently broke new ground in the burgeoning field of television journalism. In 1953, Murrow made the decision to investigate the case of Milo Radulovich. Radulovich had been discharged from the Air Force on the grounds that his mother and sister were communist sympathizers. The program outlined the elements of the case, casting doubt on the Air Force’s decision, and within a short while, Milo Radulovich had been reinstated. This one edition of See It Now marked a change in the face of American journalism and a new age in American politics.

Soon after the Milo Radulovich program aired, it was learned that Senator Joseph McCarthy was preparing an attack on Murrow. As it happened, Murrow himself had been collecting material about McCarthy and his Senate Investigating Committee for several years, and he began assembling the program. Broadcast on March 9, 1954, the program, composed almost entirely of McCarthy’s own words and pictures, was a damning portrait of a fanatic. McCarthy demanded a chance to respond, but his rebuttal, in which he referred to Murrow as “the leader of the jackal pack,” only sealed his fate. The combination of the program’s timing and its persuasive power broke the Senator’s hold over the nation. The entire fiasco, however, caused a rift with CBS, and they decided to discontinue See It Now.

I don't expect any work of fiction to get facts right. That is why they call it fiction.

I have read your posts. Aren't you one of those folks who keep talking about liberty?

So the Deep Horizon explosion never happened either? Fascinating, the one thing Progressive can continue to fictionalize is the Evilness of Joe McCarthy. Absolutely fascinating.

Then consider this a public service to bring to light the truth about McCarthy

I'm not following your logic. The Titanic did indeed sink in the Atlantic, but that doesn't mean Leonardo DiCaprio had sex in a car in the hold before it went down or that there was a huge diamond on board. A work of fiction is a work of fiction. You don't look to it for correct facts.

Joe McCarthy was a drunk and a demagogue. For all I know, he thought he was doing good in the beginning, but he clearly didn't give a damn about truth or who he hurt in the end. He proved to be an embarrasment to the party and was shunned. Rightfully so. In a free society, an embarrassment is the only thing you could call him. Assuming you actually believe in freedom, that is.

You are, of course, free to see it any way you like and to express your opinion on the subject without fear of reprisals. However, if McCarthy had had his way, you wouldn't.

Your problem, well one of your problems, is that you're reading from a 60 year old playbook and history has not been kind to your distorted reality. It's probably come from you're being totally ignorant of the facts regarding McCarthy and bought into the "McCarthy was a drunk and demagogue" line. It's a Piltdown Man version of history, its a fugazy, a fake, a fraud and you got suckered into believing it. If you read any recent books on the topic you'd see that ever your pals the USSR have admitted that McCarhty was spot on that they had infiltrated the White House and State Department.

If you want to keep believing a fiction, that's your business, I'm pointing out that reality is the polar opposite of your notion of McCarthy.

It that bothers you, that's just too fucking bad

It is a given that McCarthy had a serious drinking problem. So did Ted Kennedy, but at least McCarthy didn't drown anyone.

True enough. All he did was intentionally destroy people's lives for his own power.

You responded to not a single one of my points. Just touted a bunch of vague, unsupported allegations as if they were facts. Such a good boy. Never question anything you are told to believe. Maybe they will give you a biscuit.

What "points" did you think you made? Was Leo DiCaprio in Titanic? Yes

A point to note:
Ronald Reagan defended hollywood actors accused of communism by the Macarthy witch hunt.

Actually, no he didn't. He testified before Congress, but he was friendly witness at the HUAC hearings.

Alas, if only that werre true. Commie trators deserve to have their lives destroyed. Almost all the people who were supposedly "destroyed" when on to enjoy comfortable lives and successful careers.

Ah yes. That great belief in freedom. You freedom to believe as you wish. My freedom to believe as you command. Luckily, most americans are not drones.
