But I'm constantly reminded of the words of the late great Will Rogers. "I belong to no organized political party, I'm a Democrat."

Because we embrace so many seemingly conflicting and intellectually complex issues, we actually do appear as an organization that is in drast need of organization. That's what makes America the GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH!!!!!!!!!! Sadly, some don't appreciate the diversity or the depth of our society.

Certainly, I don't make a habit of patting another self-professed liberal on the back by giving a "Me Too" response to their post although I certainly might feel the same way. Liberals are a helluva better at standing on their own principles than any that might claim independence but condemn it with their shortsighted and narrow view of a particular pet peeve. Oh well, down to merry hell we go.

Yes. You're a loose constellation of single issue, pressure organizations, united by your opposition to the values that have made this country great. So you're partially right on this one.

Tsk, tsk. While you ignore the improvements of a progressive, democratic republic you make such an obviously ignorant statement. Again, tsk, tsk. You should be ashamed. :D

Capitalism on it's own will never work. There's such thing as socialists.

It's not an ignorant statement it's true.

Democrats today are in shambles. look at kerry. votes for the war. then says it was wrong for his primaries, now he's back to "staying the course".

You guys are all about power and no longer have an ideological core.

If kennedy were alive today he'd side with bush.

You're all washed up. It's over. you're losing the congress, the senate and the presidency in short order. God bless america.

Nope, I don't think it was a joke, kathianne. It was a truism that as is common within truisms rejected by the propagandised. But that's just me, don't you know? :)

Who's all about power?

liberals. Power and nothing else. They don't care if the nation goes to hell in a handbasket as long as they can get their hands on the public treasury.

free markets lead to concerted efforts and continued growth and renewal of structure. The very opposite of entropy. socialism causes stagnation. This is irrefutable. look at the seventies and where we almost went. Carter was such an abject failure.

uh, the GOP isn't? now THATS laughable.

I'm all about POWER FOR THE PEOPLE and pretty much to hell with those that irresponsibly exploit the weaknesses of the people and the resourses of the lands and environment we call our own. Otherwise, I guess I might could be a Republican. Don't you know? :D

They protect free markets. and indivdual rights. they acknowledge each individuals need for power in his own life, thus they allow any individual to form a corporation or work at one to achieve those goals. Libs are in denial about the very nature of humanity.

No. you're about power for government, ON BEHALF of the people, who you don't represent, anyway, yet claim to.

There is no way you can still accuse only liberals of this. It's true Dems in Congress and the White House have enriched many a good 'ol boy through pork projects. But their problem is that they were not big time enough. The Republicans now controlling the Congress and White House have made the biggest treasurey grab in history in order to enrich their friends. The Medicaid drug plan is going to cost $100s of millions more than the White House and Sen. and House leaders first proclaimed while enriching pharm companies. Coincidentally, Rumsfled was CEO of a major pharm co. before serving as DoD secretary.
KBR, sub. of Halliburton, is where Cheney served as CEO before being veep, now, low and behold his former corp. is being immemsely enriched in this public treasurey grab.
Rice was former CEO of Chevron before being a half-assed Nat. Sec. Adv., I'm sure Chevron will reap from profits from the war in Iraq.
These are just a few cabinet members. This seems like the biggest chain of conflicts of interests I could ever imagine.
Why did we elect Bush to install these people? Oh yeah, we didn't, they were installed like a new board of directors. A new board that will sell out our great nation in order to enrich their former companies and themselves. It's don't think it's fascism, but it is something I don't like. But it's not merely the white house. Congress, both dems and pubs, have been bamboozled by the unholy hoards of corporate lobysists.

Wrong again, rtwngAvngr. Governmental powers should be limited by the PEOPLE they represent. The DOLLARS of the CORPORATIONS don't represent any kind of free speech or societal responsibilities other than to exploit the silence of the shareholders that wait patiently for their rewards which may or may not materialize. Political interference by self-serving Corporations is corrupt in concept and even practical application. Corporations thrive on human and natural resourse depletion. But I don't suppose you could entertain that truism, could you?

You cant be lonely with your leader DKSuddeth, the token pissed off liberal moderator....wait.....he's actually a neocon in disguise. I keep forgetting that....

(Now I will run since he will give chase when he reads this - good thing Im cute, otherwise he'd get angry methinks)

Now look here, KL. DK might be a mod here but he ain't leading me and I don't pretend to lead any other liberal. I retired from all that. I'm just another USMB poster. Somehow we work in harmony anyway. Ain't rock 'n roll a jamm?
