Now this is a serious question and is asked about true liberals and not just those that vote democratic. I know a lot of folks that do not agree with the democratic ticket but continue to vote that way. So I am posing this question in regards to true blue liberals.

Are liberals the way they are because they feel guilty? If you will notice, most liberals are those that were born into money or they are people that have made their livings off of liberal causes (activists, etc.).

Every hard working person I know that was once poor and then "made it" through hard work and perseverance are conservative. Most liberals you meet are people that were born either rich or upper middle class and now they claim to carry the mantle for the little guys.

Not really sure what you're meaning by true blue liberals unless it's because they follow the historical voting pattern of their families.

If liberals feel guilt they could just give their own money away to various causes to assuage that guilt. But they don't. They want to give YOUR money away.

I believe the liberal elites have a superiority complex as they think they know what's best for everybody.

I also think that lots of them buy unwittingly into socialist/communist/totalitarian agendas probably due to the '60s revolution. Like Michael Savage says, lots of them are Red Diaper Doper Babies.

Good topic. I know trial lawyers justify their ungodly earnings by feeling they are doing society a service by "reigning in" corporations, and making them "pay" for what they've done, even if the actual case is meritless. Thus they feel puffy and special while making tons of money. For elected libs, redistribution of the earnings of others gives them the illusion that THEY actually did something good; so they get to feel powerful and moral all at the same time, even though socialism is a proven blight on the world.

I think whatever a persons political leanings are have to do with how they were raised or influence around them when they are young, at least for the most part. That's why a lot of actors and musicians tend to lean to the left, because most people in that line of business are liberals.

When it gets right down to it, I can only speak for myself when it comes to why I lean whichever way I lean on any given issue. Basically, I just look at things with a little common sense, and more often than not that steers me toward a conservative or centrist view.

I agree with jimmy. I think it has a lot to do with how you are raised, what type of influences were around, etc.

I often tend to lean on the left on most issues and I currently would not consider myself middle or upper class and my past would reflect poverty. *shrug* I'm not sure if guilt would have an influence on how people vote.

Yes. The conservatives are logical today. Libs hate logic, preferring instead bold promises and glittering generalities. Try to dig beneath the surface with a lib and all you get without fail is either a senseless word salad, or anger.

Bingo - we have a winner!

Just last night after dinner, the war came up. A liberal at the table, when confronted with fact denying her claim, simply ended the conversation stating "we better change the subject, the conversation is likely to get heated"

All I could do is giggle.
