Liberalism is About Control

Every time I see people talk about liberalism, people seem to criticize their willingness to let other people run the world. However, that is backwards. Liberalism is about percieved control. First, it's obvious how they want to control their own populace. You hand out gifts and favors to the majority, causing them to depend on them straight into poverty. In the meantime, you just make sure they blame it all on a sufficiently regulated minority (the rich). This will keep a steady supply of votes and make sure everyone stays in their place, as the only ones with the resources to rebel will be villified. With control of education, most everyone will buy the whole thing hook, line, and sinker.

However, there are some things that are beyond the control of governments, like fanatical terrorists and the weather. Liberals, however, with their control fetish, think these things can be controlled. Instead of eliminating the threat of terrorism by rooting it out and destroying it, liberals think terrorists can be controlled through appeasement. Like animals, they will leave alone if left alone. Also, since terrorists are really under our control, somebody must have caused them to attack, which is why they blame everybody but the terrorists themselves for their behavior. It's not the terrorists' fault, since they're really in our control. The other greatest example of this phenomenon is the weather. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can control the weather. However, liberals think that we do, in fact, control the weather, and that bad weather never happened until we started polluting Mother Earth. Since the weather is in our control, we can prevent any and all hurricanes, tornados, ice storms, blizzards, and even dreary days if we would just sign and keep the Kyoto agreement.

You see, it's not about laying back and taking it, it's about control, but misguided control. The true believers in the modern liberal movement truly think they can control everything. It's really kind of sad.

Right. Their worst mistake is to think they can mold humans in their image. When they fail, it's not because it was a futile task to begin with, it's always because not enough money was spent or not enough regulations were set out. The logical end of liberalism is basically a sort of "1984" society. Which, in case you haven't notice, we're headed toward.

I can't really think of any liberals off hand who believe the weather can be controlled. Can you name some and provide quotes of their claims and a source, please?

How ironic that libs are trying to control everyone else, when they are against any form of self-control. Abstinence, outlawing drugs, etc. are anathema to them.

Right and they're against teaching people personal financial responsibility, opting instead to criticize society as a whole for not being "moral" and giving handouts.
