Spreading Liberty is a fundamental principle of Conservativism, democracy does not equal liberty. Which is probably why our Founders set this nation up as a Republic bound by the Rule of Law.

I see two problems with the article:

1) As far as I know Gadhafi was never an ally, as far as I know. I think we were always opposed to the regime, we just took a rather neutral stance towards them. I could be wrong, I dont always keep up with all the changes of the State Department.

2) We didn't have to support Mubarak. We could have stayed out of it completely and just not thrown him under the bus. That way, we could have worked behind the scenes with Mubarak to give them more liberty, while making sure radicals like the Muslim Brotherhood didnt lose control. Unfortunately, Obama chose to throw him under the bus rather than work behind the scenes.
