Liberal extremism isn't a new thing..

Exactly...look to the 60's when they were all doped up and high on acid.....now these fucking braindead assholes are running the country...and they want to legalize drugs to keep the population dumbed down...and get a few more votes.

Um, what? The counter-culture movement of the 60s went on to become the CEOs, lawyers, bankers, and politicians that have gotten us into the mess we currently find ourselves in.

Uh...thank you for agreeing wholeheartedly with me. Look at the age of the people running the country...not just our druggie President.....and for your info....
the me me me me me me me me me I I I I I I I I I I I I gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme generation is firmly entrenched now....that's why we have a new 2.5 trillion dollar socialist entitlement program that's law.

The Kent State massacre, by contrast, was of course, very "American".

The real anti-Americans

Nice effort. The New Left grew out of the civil rights movement, a non-violent effort to expose racisim in the deep south. The response to northern whites joining MLK and protesting/demonstrating exposed for the nation the hate and fear of southern whites as well as their propensity to act violently.
Violence begets violence, and American ethos generally reject the non violent ideals of MLK and Ghandi - as one professor reminded us in those days if Ghandi has layed down in front of a German tank and not an English one, there would have been no more Ghandi.
Yes, there were fringe elements who used violence in the 60's, but most protests and protesters were non violent, opposed to racism, the vietnam war and a draft which sent those unable to vote into harms way.
IMHO the force driving those in the 60's was freedom and equal rights for all; todays Tea Party memembers are driven, again in MHO. by avarice, bigotry and ethnocentrism (a nice way of suggesting they are the same ignorant racists who violently reacted to black human beings demanding they be treated equally).

Liberal extremism isn't a new thing..

You're right...

LOL!!! You mean when they stuck flowers in the soldiers' guns! SOME ATTACK!!! The main difference between the occasional leftist violence in the 60s and today's right wing anger is that back then liberal politicians weren't egging them on, like the righties are doing today.

"To compare a brick tossed through the window of a congressional office and two shouted slurs to Kristallnacht suggests a growing paranoia on the left about the populist right. "

for the past 20 years conservatives (urged on by the likes of limbaugh) have steadfastly maintained that all liberals are nazis and that every little thing liberals wanted to do (legaize pot, gay rights, blacks and whites intermarry, women in the military) was an attempt to "destroy America"

the populist right is paranoid AND deranged

"Not since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 made "some Americans run off the rails," said Rich, have we seen anything like this. "

yawn
no different (except possibly MILDER) than the hyperbole and rhetoric used by cons

and what I want to know is....
why don't you defend THOSE people the way you defend the populist conservatives?

these people are guilty of being ANGRY to the point of VIOLENCE to DEMAND their rights and freedoms!

isn't that what you APPLAUD in the tea baggers?
isn't that what is PROMOTED amongst the conservative right?

"we are ANGRY! we are WILLING TO DIE (and KILL) for our RIGHTS!"

now you are being hypocritical
when YOUR side is ANGRY and VIOLENT it is JUSTIFIED and something to be PROUD of!

when your "enemies" are ANGRY and VIOLENT it is COMPLETELY UNJUSTIFIED and EVIDENCE of how EVIL they are.

your hypocrisy does not surprise me.

I thought they were assholes

just like I think YOUR side are assholes

unlike YOU and your con friends I am NOT a hypocrite

not yet
but they TALK about it

and their spinmeisters encourage it

and you would UNDERSTAND it if it happened.

i'll give you that SO FAR the teabaggers have NOT behaved as BRAVELY as those LEFTISTS did....

imagine
believing so strongly in your principles that you would, UNARMED, stand up against a STRONG and POWERFUL police and military presence

I guess
even with all the encouragements to hate and justified violence
the bottom line is
teabaggers are cowards who are just too afraid to actually DO SOMETHING about their beliefs

all talk
no action.

==================

"Not one tea partier, man or woman. "
The real anti-Americans "

thius is IGNORANT AND ARROGANT

any idiot is thinks that ONLY Teabaggers are REAL Americans is an arse

We are ALL REAL Americans
even those who see things differently from you

the fact that I understand that (while you do not) makes me a BETTER American than you.

as for;
"Liberal extremism isn't a new thing.. "

when one thinks back to the mccarthyism of the 50s
and American nazi movement of the 30s
and limbaugh starting in the late 1980's

when can conclude that CONSERVATIVE EXTREMISM is ALSO not a new thing

no matter which side is talking......
ALL EXTREMISM
ALL SUGGESTIONS OF VIOLENCE
ALL WORDS OF UNBRIDLED HATRED

ARE WRONG!

and while YOU condone 1 side while denouncing the other...
YOU are wrong

todays Tea Party memembers are driven, again in MHO. by avarice, bigotry and ethnocentrism (a nice way of suggesting they are the same ignorant racists who violently reacted to black human beings demanding they be treated equally).

You sound exactly like a 1960's Dixiecrat. Congratulations on coming full circle.

Then you wouldn't have much trouble getting me a source that isn't heavily biased.

All sources are biased - but thinking people can distinguish facts from opinion.

The facts are clear. The few (and rather suspect) instances of violence and incivility which are attributed to the Tea Parties are nothing compared to the whole sale rioting and anarchy of other protestors.

I was caught in the middle of the Rodney King protest in Berkeley in the 1992. Talk about ugliness.

1 instance?

well

you can go to web sites or NRA gun shows and buy bumper stickers, buttons, t-shirts that say;

"i accelerate for liberals"
"make America a better place, kill a liberal"
"club liberals, not sandwiches"
"I love EXPLOSIVES"
"liberal hunting permit"
"I piss on liberals"
"save the rain forest, burn a liberal"
"imagine there's no liberals"
"split liberals not wood"

and pictures of donkeys with targets on them and guns aimed at them

and you can buy targets (for shooting at) with pictures of liberals on them

ann coulter said that her biggest regret regarding 9/11 was t hat the terrorists did not kill everyone at the new york times

rush limbaugh has said
"it's ok to hate liberals
we are at war with liberals
in war it's ok to hate your enemies
in war it's ok to KILL your enemies"

he's also said;
"leave only SOME liberals left alive"
and
to the chicago police when the democrats had their convention
"finish the job"

we routinely hear con spinmeisters say things like
"liberals are the ENEMY
liberals HATE America
liberals HATE Christians
there is a CULTURE WAR
we are fighting LIBERALS in the CULTURE WAR for our RIGHTS and FREEDOMS"

words like these (besides being pure applesauce) and dangerous in that they
promote hatred and violence against people who are NOT REALLY the enemies of god or America or freedom

when you defend the hate and suggestions of one side you become a part of the problem.

any person
left or right
who promotes hatred and violence against the other side
just for not having the same opinions and beliefs
is part of the problem

disclaimer; my hatred for people like you is justfified in that I hate you for the RIGHT reasons; you are dangerously deranged and hatefilled lunatics who would gladly use violence to FORCE YOUR BELIEFS down everyones' throat

you are the MOST UNAmerican of Americans

you are so rigid in your beliefs
and so determined to stamp out all other beliefs
that you are the OPPOSITE of what our constitution is about.

your attacks on EVERYONE who doesn't think like you are positively UNAmerican

Complete, unadulterated crap.

You do an image search for "kill bush" "kill palin" or any other loony phrase and you'll find pages of liberal hate media as well. Generally much more immediate, gory, and serious than the goofy stuff you just pulled out of your ass.

A moment fixed in my mind. I was leaving a class at San Francisco State University when I learned of the trajedy at Kent St.; the news of the 'murder' of unarmed students passed in a moment from someone listening to the news to the 20,000 or more on campus, instantly emotions erupted ranging from tears and sobbing to anger and rage and everything in between.

Exactly...look to the 60's when they were all doped up and high on acid.....now these fucking braindead assholes are running the country...and they want to legalize drugs to keep the population dumbed down...and get a few more votes.

Or worse yet the clueless spawn of the fucking braindead assholes are running the country.

And that most of them are products of single parent families doesn't increase the hope for our future.

Kent state was unfortunate.

But let's not forget...it was precipitated by the TORCHING of an ROTC building.

Those darned peaceful libs!
