First, let's define incest: It is consensual sex between two adults who are defined by varying state laws as being too closely related to each other. It may or may not include persons who have no blood relationship, such as adopted siblings. (First cousins can marry in the UK, as can half-siblings in Sweden.)

It is not rape, so why should it be included with that term when discussing exceptions to anti-abortion laws? The underlying basis for prohibiting incest is the prevention of genetic abnormalities, which can occur from any number of other reasons as well.

What are your views on terminating pregnancies because of potential abnormalities?

Well, yes it is not rape if the two are consensual.
So, what's your point?

Isn't it rape if it isn't consensual?

Stupid lib questions get you nowhere

The reason it is included is BECAUSE it is not necessarily illegal, yet may be used as a reason for the decision to abort. Another popular one is imminent health of the mother. These are simply stipulations included in bills.

My opinion? Abstention would remove the problem. The problem with abstention? No problem, if people obeyed God's law. The problem is, they don't obey because nobody educated them about what God requires, and or they forsook the wisdom of God's word. It simply teaches people not to have sex with brothers or sisters. Mankind knew it was a stupid thing to do long before scholarly people wrote it down either by pen and ink or chiseled in rock.

Actually the definition doesn't say anything about it being consensual or not. This is what good old Webster's has to say:

·cest | \ ˈin-ˌsest \
Definition of incest

: sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry.

also : the statutory crime of such a relationship

Definition of INCEST

As you can see, for it to be incest it must be illegal for the people to marry. It's illegal for family members to marry. Which means that people are trying to turn a crime into a legal act in order to force survivors of incest to carry a pregnancy to term against their will.

The reality is that incest usually is an older man having sex with a child in the family. The child is way to young to consent so it's also rape.

For anyone to try to say a child can consent to sex is disgusting. They can't and it's rape. Plain and simple. Which is why rape and incest are tied together in so many situations.

Why not just let people have the freedom to make the choice to terminate or not for themselves?

You know, like the constitution requires?

Why do you care? Maybn they just met & did not realize they were closely related? What if two underaged siblings had sex.

Again, why do you give a shit?

Incest is NOT defined as strictly consensual.

'incest

NOUN
mass noun
  • 1Sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other.'
incest | Definition of incest in English by Oxford Dictionaries

It STRICTLY refers to sex between too people closely related...it has NOTHING to do with consent.

Incest can be consensual or non-consensual.
