Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager.

He didn't pass the physical.

Childhood asthma which allowed him to play football and baseball in highschool and college and be a lifeguard but not a soldier? But let's be real he had 5 student deferrements far before the asthma was ever brought into the picture.

I worked at MEPS as LPO and Lead Classifier from 1999 until 2002, and during that time I'd see kids who came in wanting to join but were inelegible because of asthma.

Matter of fact, there are some pretty severe restrictions on whether or not you can join if you've had childhood asthma. A lot of it is based on when your last asthma attack was, and if a civilian doctor has cleared you.

Why? Because on the football field or baseball field, you generally have an inhaler. In the middle of a war zone? Not so much.

And yeah............that condition is a major disqualifier.

But even though Biden was ineligible to serve, his son still joined the military and has served in Iraq. What have Romney's sons done for this country (other than campaign for their father)?
