Bless that man. We could use another voice like his in these tumultuous days.

He would have been better without his vilifying of Christians.
Religion is certainly open for criticism and humor...but Carlin started a personal war on religion several years back..it was just ugly.

Like the videos above, he has a great way of bringing out issues.
It was just too bad that he couldn't have stayed with politics and general life.

So essentially, you like him when he's not criticizing what you feel he shouldn't criticize. Carlin didn't start a personal war on religion, so I'm not sure where you're getting your facts from.

Your joking right?

That's not what we call a war on religion. That's what we call you not being able to withstand the fact he's "criticizing" your religion. So instead of actually addressing what he said, you throw mud and say he has some personal vendetta.

I threw mud?
First of all, settle down...take a deep breath...back away from the keyboard.
My religion? I haven't been to church for decades. I have no particular religion to criticize.
To say Carlin didn't have a vendetta against religion a few years back is simply inaccurate. I think Carlin is one of the best...brilliant comedy.
I have watched Carlin for 30 years.
About 5-6 years ago, he simply did not hold a single show without describing religion in about the same manner as you would describe molestation.
He more than made fun of it, he ridiculed it with vehemence.
To say he didn't is..well...dumb.
Hell...google "George Carlin and religion"...100's of videos.

"You have no choice. You have owners. They own you."

Fuckin' A, George.

Settle down? From what? You seem to be imagining things if you think I'm angry. As for Carlin, where are these hundreds of videos? Off the top of my head, I can name maybe three videos off the top of my head where he goes off on a tangent to criticize religion. I wouldn't call that a war on religion. Just because he didn't like organize religion doesn't mean he was at "war" with it. Religion was clearly a easy target considering the inconsistencies he saw in the teachings.

It's no different from his bits about people's mannerisms or people who are too politically correct. Did he have wars against those people as well? :eusa_eh:

It's ok...I really don't care enough about it to argue. I say he had too many tangents about religion - you don't think he did.
Fine.

At any rate...my all time favorite Carlin routine:

Well, at least we're both able to appreciate the comedic genius that he was.
