I generally agree with the lists above. Its interesting to see that many MLS clubs are left leaning. I would add my own club to that list. I think there are far more right wing clubs than are listed. Of course most fans just like football.

Ive always assumed that the Packers had a left wing leaning because of their ownership structure but I may be wrong.

DO any US sports teams have a noticeable political leaning ?

Prior to 2016 there was very little politics in pro sports. Since Trump's election, some NFL and NBA teams and individual players became very outspoken politically. Decide for yourself if you think that's good or bad.

Politics in sports have been around as far as I can remember. 1968 Mexico City Olympics comes to mind.

"Since the first modern day Olympics in 1896, politics have been a part of the international competition. National rivalries, social causes, and individual protests have taken place at a great number of Olympic Games."

Start with the NFL Patriots. Owned by a Right winger in a liberal area.

I remember the Olympic boycotts - 76, 80, 84. The anti apartheid boycotts in rugby and cricket. Sport and politics have always been linked.

This is a picture of the England football team before they played Germany in 1936. They were ordered to do this by top diplomats and I think one player who refused was dropped. It was a futile attempt to build a bridge.

Didnt Reagan ban the US olympic team from going to Moscow ?
