Leaving America

There aren't many places where Americans can go without becoming less free.

Don't like socialized medicine? Don't like higher taxes? Don't like more regulation? Well, that pretty much rules out every single developed nation in the world. You'll be living in a second or third world country. Maybe you can go to Singapore, which is authortarian in other ways. There aren't many places Americans can go to be more free without living in a much poorer society.

Of course, as an American citizen, you are taxed on your worldwide income. So even if you go to a lower taxed country, you still will pay American taxes if your rates abroad are lower. You could give up your American citizenship though.

What about Australia?

It also has some very great people. In my tourist related job I meet many of them, and I tell them they remind me of the way Americans used to be. Polite, and well-mannered. Civilized too. I have been to Canada and experienced them much to my pleasure.
FANTASTIC people.
Who continually vote against their own best interests.

Yes, they are a happy people until they get a serious stage of cancer and come to America for treatment. [well in the past as it seems] Soon we will all be in the same boat. Sinking.

Did you happen to miss all the Americans wandering over to Canada to buy prescription drugs? This has leveled off, but not because of the Pill Plan. It happened because Bush's FDA declared Canadian drugs "unsafe for Americans" and outlawed their import, even by end-users. Most seniors are not criminals, nor wish to be.

"When Peter realizes he can vote himself free stuff and bill Paul, and when there are increasing numbers of Peters and fewer Pauls, that’s a very bad trend."
I agree. So, let's fire all of the sorry ass lazy leaches in the U. S. Military who get Congress to give them free stuff.

The government can't do anything right. Leave the common defense up to the free market.

Socialized medicine.

And half the population is drunk at any given time. The other half doesn't shave their armpits.

I'm fond of socialized medicine...and Aussie accents. I even favor man fur. If relocation didn't cost so much and make it so hard to see the loved ones, I'd think about it.

I hear Prince Edwards Isle in Canada is just gorgeous.

I'd go to Canada if it weren't so freakin' cold. Socialized medicine, low crime, and all the men are as suave as Toro...what's not to like?

O, ya...that crappy beer......but wait, I dun drink beer......

One problem...

As Margaret Thatcher said "The problem with socialism is that, sooner or later, you run out of other peoples' money."
Maggie Thatcher was a socialist.

We cannot keep spending..... it just can't work.
Our system of Social Security works just fine, according to an overwhelming majority of Americans.

I live in the UK. I see what 'socialism lite' does.... it saps any desire or ambition to succeed as individuals.
Is that why you have no desire or ambition and haven't achieved any success?

So Mexico has an American immigration problem too?

Not exactly a problem. Americans move to Mexico and take their money with them. Many of the illegal Mexicans in the US come here, make money, and send it back to Mexico.
