She was excusing his popularity among women who would vote for him, but of course it was so remote and obscure as to be totally irrelevant.

Let's put it in perspective....you're dealing with people who's maturity level is that of a junior highschool gossipmonger. They cater to listeners/readers who care nothing about this country or what happens to it as long as they can say "we got ours..fuck you"...so once you see it from this perspective it's actually quite normal for them to make this a news item.

Exactly right, a fact that they miss entirely. This is true of their constant lambasting of Fox News for instance. The average liberal (but not necessarily true of the average Democrat) carries their hatred to such a shrill level that it's an invitation for the open minded person to penetrate the filter, and see what is really there. This hurts them instead of helping their side.
