'Interviewed at their home in a remote Andean village by Ecuadorian TV, Lala's family said he had left for the US two months ago after paying $15,000 (£9,000) to a people smuggler to organise the trip.'

If things are soooo bad in those countries, how in all that makes sense can these people afford $15,000????? That amount of money goes a long way in their countries. Many pay much more - makes NO sense.

The money was probably stolen from American taxpayers then sent across the border to help sneak more invaders into the US.
