No.. Not at all. I'm a HUGE immigration advocate. The problem is that our GOVT is completely dysfunctional and CAN NOT HANDLE the issue with any common sense, efficiency or integrity. I'd be TOTALLY liberal on immigration if our Fed Govt lived up to it's PRIMARY DUTY in the Constitution to "control the borders and immigration". . Not even Libertarians or open border people can DENY -- it's one of the FEW ENUMERATED powers given to the Feds.

Uh, no, while in government custody, the workers responsible for the child act in loco parentis. Not saying I'm a fan of physically forcing medication down a kid's throat, because I'm not. But the article even says that many of them have serious mental and behavioral problems, and THAT is what they're being medicated for. Anyone who's been around mental health care can tell you that such patients can be pains in the ass about taking their meds. So I'm thinking I'd need to see all the evidence before jumping to a conclusion.

Oh, I don't doubt it. Hell, just coming from a society that treats rape as so unimportant, the way many of the societies those kids are leaving do, would screw up your head. And that trip north to the border? Not exactly a recipe for sanity.

That being said, all the more reason they can't just be left untreated to get worse. (Again, with the stipulation that OBVIOUSLY, the treatment should be done in a humane fashion.) And I'm not certain I'd trust their parents judgement on the child's condition or need for treatment, given that they come from the same background that made the kid nuts.
